50 state postcard swap

Thread Starter

I would like to organize a 50 states postcard swap...  Ideally, I'd like to start a webpage where everyone can make an "about my state" page and then just send out a postcard introducing yourself and sharing your webpage...  that way the kids can comment/ask questions if they want to past just sending postcards out (but minimum would be postcards).  Everyone would send out 49 postcards...

Anyone interested?  Or anyone have any good sites/ideas for organizing one?

thanks!!

:)

Edited to add:

Once I get enough interest, I'll generate an address list and distribute via pm's...  Here's a list of states still needed:

Alabama
Alaska
Arizona
Arkansas
California

Colorado
Connecticut
Delaware
Florida
Georgia
Hawaii
Idaho
Illinois
Indiana
Iowa
Kansas
Kentucky
Louisiana
Maine
Maryland
Massachusetts

New York
North Carolina
North Dakota
Ohio
Oklahoma
Oregon
Pennsylvania
Rhode Island
South Carolina
South Dakota

woohoo!  i'm excited that other people are interested... im so not a geography person at all... but im really excited to do the states with my boys this year... although I'm not sure who's going to be learning the most - me or them! :)

I'd be interested in the postcards part.  DD1 is just in 1st grade, so I don't think we'd build a website.  That would be mostly me. ;)  We're in Kentucky.

We would love this - postcards only for us, as well, as my kids are 7 and 5 :-)  Maybe each postcard could have a neat fact about that state, or something (state bird, state flower,etc.).

We are in Florida :-)

oh! We're in Missouri , this sounds awesome! we're doing states this year (my 5.5 yr old DD's request!) -since she is only 5 i'll help her put something together to participate..

My boys would love to participate!!  We are in Wisconsin.

My daughter would love to do this!  She is 8 and we live in CT.

Me too!! You can cross off SD! ;-)

Once you have enough participants, would we send out cards in staggered mailings so we don't have to do all of them at once?

There was this cool group that doesn't do the projects anymore - but you can still check out the site if you want: http://www.creativepostcardclub.com/home.html It wasn't geared to kids, but it was still a similar concept.

Please put us down for New Mexico!

Since California's taken (where we live) we'd love to take Massachusetts, where we spend a wonderful chunk of our summertime and the most of our family lives there.  Alternatively, we could do Nevada (family lives there too...) if you need/want us to cover that!   Just let me know either way!  Fun! And, thank you!!!

My child can do Arizona postcards.... Please let me know if this is actually going to happen or not, so I can start stocking up on postcards. (and when you think we will be mailing them)

Either Nevada or Mass is fine--let's see who else picks one of those first and I'll choose the runner-up!  I'm flexible!
