NC State is conducting ant research and is asking for help from citizens all over the US. They are seeking to identify the impact of urbanization on the variety and quantity of our ant populations.
I think a lot of kids will really enjoy this. Originally, they planned to send kits to school groups but have since created directions for creating your own kit. That option is a great way for homeschoolers to participate and will open them up to a lot more samples. The kit uses cheap, easy to find materials and lays out the specific protocol for collecting.
