2011 Triangle Walk for Moms and Midwives

The 2nd Annual NC Friends of Midwives "Walk for Moms and Midwives" is coming up!  

 

When: Oct 1 (registration begins at 9, walk at 10am)

 

Where: Lake Benson Park, Shelter 1--- 921 Buffaloe Road, Garner, NC 27529  

            1 mile paved loop--very stroller-friendly!

 

Why :  Proceeds go to NC Friends of Midwives, working to promote access to midwifery care.  Their current focus is getting bills passed to license Certified Professional Midwives, who attend out of hospital (home and birth center) births.  There are currently two bills active in the NC General Assembly (H522 and S662), which we will be working with in 2012.   Currently NC is one of only nine states in the nation in which direct entry midwives are expressly illegal.  NC needs legal, licensed and regulated CPMs!

 

How much? :  $20 for individuals

                     $40 for families (w/ 4 shirts)

                     $100 for teams of 10

                     $5 for extra shirts

If you're in central NC, consider coming out to the Walk for Moms and Midwives Oct. 1st, at Lake Benson Park in Garner, NC.  It is the one big annual fund-raiser that promotes midwifery care and home birth in NC!   Pregistration is over, but we will be mailing shirts out to those who register the day of the walk.  Registration fees will be $5 higher at each level for shipping costs, if you order shirts.
