is a yeast diaper rash itchy?

i dont know if im dealing with eczema on his diaper area only, or a yeast diaper rash. the dr said eczema, but im looking at yeast diaper rash pictures, and they look so similar .... no other yeast symptoms, and i have had it in my breasts before so im somewhat familiar with that. is it itchy for the baby?

Yeast seemed to be itchy for my DS. Also, I don't think his yeast rash had any "symptoms" per se - we figured out it was yeast when it was obviously not responding to treatment for a regular contact diaper rash. We cleared it up with lotrimin cream 2-3 times per day, but it took several weeks for it to get better.
