Pain during ovulation?

Thread Starter

My DS is just over 15 months old, I got my period back for the first time since he was born just last month. A couple weeks before that I had some major pain while he was nursing ( i was sure I was pregnant). It is happening again this month, so I am pretty sure its has to do with a certain time in my cycle.

It is making nursing miserable for me, it is very sensitive and sore , it feels like he is biting down the whole time but he's not

Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas on how to help?

Thanks for your ideas

I get that around menstruation but I'm sure it's similar, hormonally caused sensitivity. I try and keep nursing sessions short, make sure he's got the ideal latch, and focus on what I'm doing and remember that it will just be a little longer (like count breaths and tell myself 10 more or something) so I don't get too irritated about it. Past 12 months if they're eating foods it's ok to limit nursing a little bit until you feel better.
