Experiences with Ellie Lagare?

Thread Starter

I have an interview this week with Ellie Lagare. Email correspondance has been very warm, prompt, and upfront. I think she may be the one :)

I am looking for reviews or experiences with Ellie. If for some reason you prefer to do it privately, I would appreciate a PM.

Thanks in advance -

I had a homebirth(a vba2c) with her 17 months ago and loved her.  My best friend is planning a homebirth with her too after witnessing how wonderful mine was.  I really liked her assistant mw Jennie too.  I went into my 42nd week and she never had a problem with me calling and seeing me extra as needed etc.  She was always a phone call away if I needed her and very caring.  I am very happy with the level of care I received from her.  I would definitely use her again if I were to have more children.

She was my midwife. Love her. She is an experienced and skilled midwife.

I had my vbac baby with her! It was great, and I wish I could have her again with this baby but I've moved :( Prenatal care was excellent. Very easy to get along with personality, visits were enjoyable, I felt comfortable that I was getting full informed consent for any testing I chose to do or not do, same with newborn procedures. with no pressure either way to go with "her preference". The information was put out there, she answered questions, I made my decisions.  I have a lot of faith in her skills as well, and I know she has seen several emergencies and is very well capable of dealing with them safely. My son had shoulder dystocia and she was able to get him out safely with no damage (short or long term) to him and an intact perineum for me. It was handled in a way that was not scary/traumatic to me and I can look back on his birth feeling wonderful about it, without the complication even casting any negative shadow.

I felt this way too, full informed consent with no pressure to go with a certain choice with testing etc.  I really felt secure and have a deep level of trust with Ellie.  I knew if there was an emergency she would handle it well and not hesitate to transfer me if necessary.  That was important to me.

I was present for my my nephews birth where Ellie, Jennie and Heather were in attendance.  All seemed lovely.  That day was my only contact with them but I felt they handled things well. For example, they were very respectful of my sister's preferences (even if they weren't necessarily ideal) and when they came for the birth (they got called late in the game at my sister's insistence) I really appreciated the efforts that were made to not disturb her birth space.

Ellie Legare and Jennie Elkins are awesome! I am so thankful that I was able to have them attend me for my VBAC.  Ellie knew when to just stand back and observe and when to step in with just the right words of encouragement.  I fully trusted her, and with good reason, as she has quite a lot of experience to fall back on.  I too felt as though I was fully informed every step of the way and didn't feel any judgement about the choices I made.  I think we're done having kids, but if we weren't, I'd hire Ellie again in a heartbeat.  In fact, I'm thinking I'd like to see her for well-woman care!

I just had my son with her at home 9 days ago... she, Jennie and their current apprentice, Sahara, are all amazing women. Not only did I get exactly the birth I wanted, but they have boosted my confidence all along the way with as much information as I wanted. I'm a single mama and I had no other support people at the birth other than the three of them and to be honest, that was perfect. Ellie knew exactly what I needed when I needed it to get the experience I wanted, and I couldn't be happier with her. I would recommend her and her team a thousand times over!! I seriously love, love, love her!!

Ellie & Jenny were my midwives too.  They were AMAZING!  Same experiences everyone else said.
