Right now, ds, 7, is in a public school Montessori program, and when I'd originally started thinking about homeschooling, I planned to incorporate as much Montessori into programming as possible. I really love the Montessori philosophy in many ways, but I'm starting to wonder if some of the work is too tedious for him sometimes, so I'm looking for a different curriculum that can play to his strengths and allow him to feel success.
Ds is an excellent reader, and I was thinking that a curriculum heavily reading-based could be an exciting, successful way for him to learn. I think it's Sonlight offers a reading curriculum, but I'm looking for more options to weigh. Any suggestions?
Also, has anyone heard of or used the Robinson Self-Teaching Curriculum (http://www.robinsoncurriculum.com/?gcli ... 2godUXeVyQ)? I love the idea of ds becoming an independent learner (one of the things I love about Montessori philosophy), and this is an ultimate goal although I know not an immediate reality.
There is an addition to this program that includes GA Hently's writings to support the History teachings. Maybe I should be, but I'm not familiar with Hently, but the descriptions sounded like it might be up ds's alley in terms of learning through reading.
I appreciate any guidance, as I explore the best options for our family!
