I'm missing running and want to get back to it but scared out of my mind that just one run will make it start all over again.

I had pretty severe plantar fasciitis beginning about 6 months ago.  At that time I was running 4 or so days per week about 1/2 hour per run.  I also windsurf pretty much every day which puts a good deal of pressure on that area (pointing toes hard onto hard surfboard).  I gave up running but refused to give up windsurfing so the healing time has been slow.  The running really wasn't a question as I could barely walk - but can 'stand' on a surfboard and that has remained my only form of exercise for the last 6 months.

I have really researched this on line and find very little help regarding easing back into running and what may happen.  Most of the advice is that it will go away with stretching, with time, with orthotics, with yoga or whatnot.  But no info as to will it come back if I start again.

The only thing I was able to find about this was regarding icing the area after runs when I first start out and to start out slowly.

I don't want advice as to how to cure plantar fasc - I can get tons of that online and from my physical therapist.  I want to know my odds of this coming back with running and at what severity.  When did you start to run again?  did it come back?  As bad as before?  Did you have to wait another 6 months or year?  Did you give up running forever?

I'm so used to the pain that sometimes I step out of bed in the morning and it's like a ghost pain.  I don't know if it's there or not anymore.   So my other question is what if there is still a tiny tinge of pain - should I continue to wait?

I think I could live with it if it came back but not as strong.  But I can't live with not being able to walk...

Thanks in advance!
