been contracting since 4pm, it's now 11, they are about 5 min apart and lasting about a min and a half long. Hoping it's the real thing this time! The pool is up and we've started filling it. Mw's are on alert and will come when I ask them to.

Thanks ladies!

It was a rather quick labor. I had been really super crampy yesterday and having occasional off and on contractions. Around 4pm or so I noticed they were starting to feel like some pretty strong braxton hicks so I timed a few of them at around 12-15 min apart. But sometimes I'd get one that was 7 min and sometimes 20 min, so I figured it was probably more false labor and I hung up my ipod to charge and didn't time anymore for a while. Hubby came home from work around 5 and took the kids to the grocery store and the oldest to her dance class and I took a hot shower and made some tea and did up the dishes. Mean while feeling all the more crampy to where I felt like one big cramp anytime I moved around. Not necessarily contracting, just really crampy. When I'd sit or lay down...that's when I'd get contractions and they were starting to feel like more than just strong BH.

After my previous two bouts of false labor the past week, I was really hesitant to call the mw's and let them know AGAIN and then they fizzle out AGAIN. But I finally decided around 10 that I should at least give them a heads up just in case this did turn into something more that I wasn't calling in the middle of the night. I told her I wasn't really sure yet, but maybe this would turn into something. Contractions were around 6-8 minutes apart, lasting about a minute, but still occasionally being 4 or up to 12 minutes apart. So I just wasn't sure. I did tell hubby that he might want to go ahead and start working on the pool

It was only about an hour later that I called her back and said, I'm pretty sure this is it. By that point I was not able to sit still through them. Laying down made them worse and if I was up moving around they were coming every 1-3 minutes.

They got here about 1 and I was having to stand up and lean over the kitchen table through them and I was starting to vocalize. They did a bp check, fetal heart tones and I asked if I could get in the pool. I'd been waiting for them to get there first and was trying to put it off as long as possible.

I FELT like maybe I was transitioning, but I just wasn't sure. I never did have an exam to see how dilated I was or anything. They offered, but I refused. I really wanted to go exam free if possible. It was kind of different this time to really be listening to my body to tell if I really felt pushy vs. being told I could start pushing if I wanted to. That was kind of neat.

At some point I felt my water break with a big pop during a contraction while I leaned over the side of the tub on my knees. I had a lot of hip, back, and pubic bone pain with contractions. I don't really know how long I pushed or anything. I just know I didn't want to push. I was hoping it would be a nice easy, my body do it all on it's own and she'd come down nice and smooth and gentle like and be born, but that didn't happen. She wasn't really budging much on her own so I HAD to push animalistic style. I was trying to avoid that because I got such a bad hemi last time and quite frankly, it just hurt to push! I finally realized that I HAD to push though or else these horrible contractions were just going to keep coming. LOL So I got to the screaming jungle woman pushing phase. I was still surprised it was taking so much more to push this one out than my last baby.

Anyway, after several pushes, progressing each time, she finally crowned, along with her hand up by her face. A nuchal hand? I think. It still took another maybe 3 contractions or so to get her out, even with me in a squat pushing with everything I had! (my throat is a bit sore today) She just wasn't coming out quick like my last baby at all! Once she was finally out, hubby scooped her up and put her in my arms and I checked immediately to see the gender and was so surprised that it was a girl!  We are thrilled though! I thought my ds would be disappointed, but he has doted on her and keeps telling me she's so cute and wants to touch her. My almost 3 year old keeps bringing her toys to the baby to share. It's really cute!

The kids slept through it all! #3 woke up sometime around 4am and stayed up for a little bit. The other 2 kids peaked into our room at their normal wake up time this morning and met their new little sister for the first time. It was really cool.

So, little girl (not so little really!) was born at 2:56 am CST this morning (9/10/11) at home, in the water birth pool, and weighed 9 pounds 12 ounces and is 20 inches long. They weighed her 4 times making sure it was right.  She is more than a full pound bigger than my last biggest baby was at 8 pounds 8 ounces! No tears! My pubic bone is sore. I think she was stuck there for a bit cause she has some bruising across her nose.

Ok, this got WAY longer than I was planning on...sorry! Without further ado....pictures.
