A few weeks ago, DS was quite ill. He was throwing up and had trouble keeping anything down. His ped recomended giving him his sippy cup of milk whenever he wanted it to try to keep him hydrated. We allowed him to have his milk at bedtime in his crib, and also when he woke up at night both for comfort and the fact that he seemed to throw up less at night. This continued for a week until he got better. The bad news is that over he course of that week, DS latched on to the milk-in-bed habit. Now he refuses to calm down for bed without his milk, and when he wakes up at night, he expects milk. I have tried offering him water, his pacifier, or rocking him for a few minutes, but unless he is given the milk, he goes into hysterics and will NOT calm down.Â
I know the milk in bed is very bad for his teeth. I want to break this habit. Does anyone have any advise on how to get him off the nighttime milk cup ? Â
