What did you accomplish today? - Page 63

I hope everyone had a good weekend and has gotten off to a good start this week!

We had a nice time at the botanic gardens yesterday, even though it was a bit overcast and chilly. Little Man really liked the model train gardens, so that was definitely worth the admission price.

Did a few things today -

- Did a few challenges on Recyclebank to earn some more points.

- Redeemed some Recyclebank points for coupons.

- Printed coupons.

- Did a few tasks on Swagbucks - not sure I'm going to stick with it though - it takes forever to earn enough points for a gift card it seems. Not sure it's worth the effort.

- Caught up on reading my blog feed on the train (love my "modern" phone!).

- Checked in on work email after I got home (meh).

- Made dinner.

- Baked pumpkin muffins.

- Refilled the flour canister from the bulk bag in the freezer.

- Pulled out Italian sausages to defrost for dinner tomorrow while I had the chest freezer open - I had to really dig to find them. I need a better way to organize that thing - maybe milk crates?

- Tidied the house.

- Laid out my clothes for work tomorrow.

Now I'm about to sit down and watch Downton Abbey with husband and clip my coupons. Hoping for an early night in bed - no later than 10!

Not sure which botanical gardens you visited, but I think I remember you saying you lived in the Chicagoland area.  If it was Taltree arboretum...watch for Groupons.  They frequently offer annua family memberships on Groupon for $45 which is less than the cost of one visit.  We typically paid ~$100 for a family membership.  (and if you haven't visited Taltree and your son likes railroad gardens you might want to make the trip to Taltree.)

We had our most productive school day today!

We also picked a bunch of bell peppers, banana peppers, and jalepeno peppers chopped them up and froze them.  We might have a freeze or even snow tonight!

We made potato soup, cornbread and salad for dinner.

And...my son helped my daughter clean and organize her room :joy .  It looks better than it has looked in a long time.

I am planning to WAH a few hours tonight.

We camped over the weekend...in the cold and drizzle.  So, I haven't done much around the house.  I am hoping to clean tomorrow so we can put up our Halloween decorations.  We've had the outside decorated for fall for weeks but have not put up anything Halloween-y.

Quiet day today:

- dropped off some donations at Goodwill

- took sweater to cleaners

- bought groceries

- walked dog

- ran out and picked up china protectors (we're emptying out my mother's hutch, and I'm finding room for whatever she's keeping here)

- put together kielbasa-cabbage soup to cook up for tomorrow

- walked down to mailbox with mother and dog

I think I'm done.  Just slice up some tomatoes and cube mozzarella to go with steak dinner.  Maybe a Game of Thrones episode tonight, not sure.

Yep, we're in Elk Grove Village outside of Chicago now. We actually just went up the Chicago Botanic Garden, but we'll have to go to Taltree it sounds like!

As far as what I've gotten done today... not much.

- Printed and clipped some coupons.

- Gave Little Man his bath.

And that's pretty much it. Husband made dinner and did bedtime with Little Man, so I'm just relaxing. We're going to watch a movie in a bit I think.

I succeeded in asking a question in class that my Social Problems teacher had neither an opinion about or answer for. That's a rarity.

On a more serious note, I got out of bed and went to class. BIG accomplishment because I am sick for about the third time since the semester began. I also submitted a rather stellar exam for the above mentioned class.

I'm hoping to get back in gear and actually get things done. :)

^^^ I think having your head in a place where you can come up with a question like that is an accomplishment!

More baby steps in my mother's move:

- went by DMV to get her address change and my car registration stuff done

- stopped at her (old) house and packed up the china she's bringing over here

- came home and walked with my dog

- worked out some weekly meal and packing logistics with my mother over lunch

- put china away in the cabinets I had purged the other day to make room for it

- just wrapped up text and phone negotiations with DH to figure out how to get food his way so he'll be fueled up for an unexpected evening meeting

Now I have to:

- wrap up some glassware for donation

- make a stop at DH's office to leave him that food

- pay city portion of car registration

- attend a presentation on our state's tax structure

Not that bad.  Getting space for the china was a big load off my mind.

Did the above, plus stopped by a shop downtown and got DH and his assistant a couple bags of the coffee they like. Single source whole bean, if you please. :-) Got home about an hour before DH, ordered some books on the internet, warmed up the soup, and ate a peaceful dinner. Chatted with DH when he got home (he purged a few things from one of our cabinets too, yippee!), read a little bit, and are wrapping up the day.

Glad to hear everyone is getting stuff done! A few things all set today -

- Printed and clipped coupons.

- Organized coupons.

- Tidied the house.

Now I'm working on my Target deals/grocery shopping plan for tomorrow since we're going after I get off work. I need to get up and get some dinner for myself too...

I had a TERRIBLE migraine today, first time ever. Somehow, I still managed to:

*Go door-knocking and flier hanging for the grassroots organization I work for
* Have a meeting finalizing an event we have this weekend
* Help my team kick some butt in Hangman in Spanish class (hey, small successes count right? lol)
* Help a fellow neighbor in crisis at 5:30 this morning, way before I EVER get up.
* Compile a resource list for a friend of a friend.
*Took some groceries to a person in need from our organization

AND, that's about all I'm good for today. I am ready to crash out.

Red letter day today, did PT stretches for the first time in months.  Such a relief!

- washed and hung a load of laundry

- scheduled a checkup for myself

- took my mother by her house

- dropped off a small box of donations

- got sweater from dry cleaner

- went to bank for quick meet about tax ID number for non-profit I work with

- went to jeweler and got various watch bands and batteries replaced

- got a small bag of groceries at food cooperative, hung a flier about GMO panel on their bulletin board

- came home and popped lunch in the oven

- walked with dog

- ate lunch, packed leftovers into some frozen lunches for DH

- did those stretches

- scheduled maintenance for our cars

- emailed bank about that tax ID

- walked down to mailbox with mother and dog

Still have to

- take laundry off the line and fold it

- go to a city transportation committee meeting

- get to bed at a decent hour

Need to think of something else to post so I can keep putting off folding laundry.  :P

SSDD:

- did work on a rough rough draft fro outline of one of the city's master plans

- emailed back and forth about subcommittee organization

- walked dog

- got car inspected

- bought groceries

- did stretches

- assembled and started chicken soup for tomorrow's dinner

- talked with a friend about possibility of joining a city subcommittee

- took dog and mother down to get mail (or mother took us; I would've asked DH to get it)

Leftovers for dinner tonight, so I think I'm done for the day, unless -- like everyone else -- the kids need something.  Except for me it's a 24 y.o. working out his pay allotments and benefits.  Or a 20 y.o. calling at 11 PM about how to make mashed potatoes with the peels on.  They are still the wild cards in all my best-laid plans.  :-)

I'm sitting/lying/clinging to the couch while the little girl sleeps. She has had a rough month. Consequently I have too.First two teeth. Then Roseola. Then thrush. Now either teething or something. She's super fussy and clingy. She needs this nap and Dad will be home when she wakes up. I'm glad, she just loves him!

Today I feel accomplished though I've only half finished anything. I was up at 5 and got two butternut squash in the oven. When the baby for up after her nursing, I got that out of the end. It's still sitting there waiting on me....

I have diapers ready to go in the dryer/clothes line.
Played with the baby, nursed her multiple times.
Cut up fruit and veggies and am dehydrating them.
Labeled pictures of the pups and tried to upload. Pc keeps saying so now it's running a scan.

Now I must run....

That's rough - hope things even out for you both soon!

I worked from home today, but I hardly got anything done around that. I've just been super tired lately, and we were out until after 8 last night doing grocery shopping. But I got $220 worth of stuff for just $150, so it was worth it. Today -

- Tidied the house.

- Made dinner.

- Printed some coupons.

And that's about it. On the plus side, husband doesn't have to work tonight, so he's home and that's nice. So just relaxing here.

I came home after a 12 hour night shift and slept only 4 hours. Woke up and cleaned the house, waited for dd2 to come home from school. Clipped the flight feathers of 14 baby quail.

drove her to her piano lesson and sat through it (and stayed awake!). Cooked dinner. Drove dd1 to a tween event thing. Played Rummikub with dd2. Picked dd1 up from the tween thing. Watched part of a movie with everyone. Watched them all go to bed. Folded laundry. It's now past midnight the next day, and I will hope to go to bed by around 2AM. :-)

It's 1230-- I just woke up! :-) And planning to do *nothing* today.

I got up at 3:30 to try to shower before she woke up to nurse. Nope. She woke up as I started to shave. She had to wait. I was in NEED of a shave. Lol
So I dried off, the on a robe and nursed her back to sleep. I got dressed and ready for town, started laundry, uploaded two batches of pictures, read my Bible, finished getting ready, nursing her in between.
We stopped and said bye to some family who are heading back to Okie Land. Then we went and had breakfast at Denny's - 35% of special we didn't know about. Yeah! We ran around town a bit, then came home.

I still need to get his lunch and work lunch ready, do some canned salsa, give the pups their shots and worm them, list them for sale, finish laundry, TAKE A NAP.... But first, my daughter smells suspicious now that she's playing in front of me....

After feeling incredibly sick and exhausted most of the week, I led a parent's rights training today and it was pretty exciting. :)

We ran around like maniacs today. Husband worked a day shift, so I had the car. Had to cram all our running around into today.

- Made scrambled eggs and bacon for breakfast.

- Dropped husband off at work.

- Stopped at Party City for a Batman mask for Little Man's Halloween costume. He screamed bloody murder and would not even consent to try it on. So we got a Batman knit hat/mask thing instead, which is just as well because it'll probably be freezing on Halloween and he can wear it the rest of the winter as a hat too. Also found a Domo-kun knit hat for husband to wear as his "costume".

- Went to Target to pick up diapers. They had a deal where you get a $15 gift card if you bought two boxes. So I picked up two, then used the gift card in a second transaction to get a dozen food pouches (I had six buy one get one free coupons), a small rake on clearance for $5 that we need for the garden next year, a Hot Wheels truck for Little Man, and two metal Halloween pails from the One Spot. I love getting stuff for free when I buy things I already need!

- Stopped at three Dollar Trees (yes, it's my "Dollar Tree circuit" - they all have slightly different stuff) and picked up a few last Halloween things, some Richard Scarry board books for Little Man's Christmas (clever cart utilization means he didn't see them!) and some hanging pouch organizers for organizing the pantry and linen closet.

- Came home and had lunch.

- Put Little Man down for a nap and both slept for three hours - I think he's coming down with a cold, and it's no problem for me to sleep when I can...

- Woke up an had a snack.

- Ran over to Lowes to pick up nails.

- Picked up husband from work.

- Made dinner.

- Installed the pouch organizers in the pantry and linen closet.

- Put small pantry items in the organizers (taco seasoning, Tabasco, udon nooodles, etc.) to free up some shelf space.

- Put small items in the linen closet organizers (flashlights, small hardware, lightbulbs, Command hooks, etc) to free up some shelf space.

- Did bedtime with Little Man.

Now we're watching the Hawks game and relaxing. Tomorrow - no running around! I'm hoping the weather is nice enough so I can take Little Man to the park. Seems like every weekend lately it's been raining and nasty...

I just read Kitchesqueen's post. Now I need a nap....

I'm nursing the baby but I'm thinking she won't nap. It's just been one of those days.
It started fine. Then I got out of bed.
I had a scam text wanting to know about something I have listed on Craigslist. I text back "Lol".
I had a message online about the same stuff, but a real person. I text them back and they asked a bunch of questions the ad clearly stated. It's a paragraph, if you can't read that maybe I don't want to do business with you....
Then as I sat down to read my Bible, the baby spilled half a cup of juice into her toy basket. My cup, my fault but seriously? First thing?
So she was whining and splashing in the juice when my nearly 18 yr old brother called to tell my about his new truck. She kicks the whining up a notch, so I woke Dad up and let him take her a while. I had to wash most of the toys and clean up the carpet. You moms know what I mean.
My brother had a bad connection but kept talking anyway. Frustrating me more. The baby kept crying off and on. I was hungry. Hubby was hungry. Baby was wanting to nurse....
So I sat down and nurses her a while. She didn't really take much considering how she was crying for it.
I got up and made breakfast, fried potato from the garden in breakfast burritos. I started cleaning out the pantry while that was cooking. I finished it after we ate and read the Bible.
While I was cleaning that out, a lady buying a pup came out to pick her up.
Now the house is semi straightened and I have some chicken and rice in the oven and I'm HOPING it will cook. I normally put raw, seasoned chicken on a dish of cooked rice, cover loosely and bake. This time, in the rush I put rice, broth and half thawed chicken under a tight foil tent with a thermometer in the chicken. Here's hoping it's done in another hour.....

After this, and she is asleep now, thank God, I have a lot I need to work on. So much for a day of rest.

I went to the local Really Really Free Market and got a car load of awesome stuff. Then, I got a whole car full and a van full of donations for this grassroots organization I work for. Got them to work and put up in the "Batcave" to be sorted through later.

Currently, I'm doing Spanish and English homework. I need to study for my Spanish quiz tomorrow and my English midterm on Tuesday AND clean the house.
