What did you accomplish today? - Page 64

I finished ~1/3 of the "camo" wall my twins requested in their bedroom, in the new addition on our house.  When I agreed to a camo wall, I underestimated how long it would take, to paint it by hand.  I underestimated that a LOT!

My teenage step-son - who's going through a very prickly, rude phase - sought me out, to thank me for the stripes I painted in HIS new bedroom - in his school colors, as requested.  He actually spent a few minutes telling me how much he liked them.  I finished his room a week ago and have bit my tongue, wanting to tell him it's only polite to say thank you (or wanting to tell off my husband for not making him say it.)  The fact that I waited until he said it on his own - and he actually did - feels like my biggest accomplishment of the day.

Hahaha - yeah, that's why I ended up sleeping for three hours!

Today was quite a bit less crazy -

- Baked a crumb coffee cake for breakfast.

- Did an hour or so of office work.

- Packed my lunch, organized my bag and laid out my clothes for work tomorrow.

- Attempted to hang a shelf in the living room but couldn't get is straight so I gave up.

- Dug chicken out of the chest freezer for dinner tomorrow.

- Tidied the house.

- Watched Secrets of the Tower of London on PBS.

That's basically it. Was going to take Little Man to the park this afternoon, but he didn't want to go! He said he wanted to stay home and read, so that's what we did.

Didn't do anything but fuel up on coffee yet today, but yesterday I:

- chatted with DS1; more money -- he's getting his head around some stocks and bonds he's had us holding for him

- rearranged some shelving in a corner of our basement; consolidated a box of loose wire packets

- walked our dog (wearing blaze orange, it's that time of year in New England)

- helped DH with some duct work he's doing in the attic

- tossed the potted annuals that have succumbed to frost so far, there are still a few left

- spread some soil around one of our granite steps

- hauled the empty-but-still-heavy terra cotta pots down basement

- swept and tidied up the porch

- reheated some meat rolls my mother made and roasted eggplant slices to go along with them

- helped DH test and replace the speakers in our living area; this included vacuuming, etc., because it's never that simple

- built a care package for DS2

I have high hopes for today!

It's more noon and she's asleep in my lap. So far:

Got 2 loafs of butternut squash bread made, we ate half of one for breakfast. ;-)
Have 2 butternut squash pies baking and should be getting close to find. I told hubby that's lunch and I'll make apple pie for supper. Bwahaha
Froze about 4 cups of squash for later in the year.
I have all of those dishes finished.
I've got two people lined out to come look at pups this afternoon.
Posted with the baby off and on.

Still need to:
Make that infernal salsa
Do something with those apples.
Make either fried chicken, spaghetti, or meatloaf. All are on this week's menu and meat is ready I think.
Take a roast out to partially thaw for jerky.
Read my Bible
Trim her nails
Do hubby's laundry
Check the stuff in the dehydrator
Fold her diapers

Etc, etc, etc.

You're in New England - how were the fall colors this year? We didn't really have a good show in the Midwest this time. It's almost like the trees went straight to brown.

Today was a fun night after work - we carved two pumpkins with Little Man. He got so excited and really enjoyed it. I also managed to make dinner and print and clip a few coupons. Now Little Man is in bed so we're settling in to relax and watch Downton Abbey.

Aced a Spanish quiz.

Went through one half of about four rooms chock full of donations for our yard sale at the organization I'm working for doing pricing and organizing. 3/5 hours and my cousin and I have only made it through maybe a tenth of the donations!

Signed 2 people up for health insurance!:joy  From start to finish!   [insert dancing carrot]

I love my job.  It's been oh-so rocky.  When the customers are having a difficult time on the web site, the customer service reps are, too.  But today the internet goddess was merciful and I had few web problems.  It was SO satisfying to do the job I was trained to do!

I've started many applications and been kicked off, so the customer has to call back and finish with someone else.  I've finished other applications because the first rep got kicked off the system. It's been trying. But today was pretty smooth.

Daily i get at least one person who is moved enough to express how relieved and grateful they are to find out they qualify for some help.

The affordability care act has problems big and small, but for many people it's nothing but a blessing.

I love my job!

That's awesome! A good work day is pretty satisfying. :-)

Did just a few things today - I'm tired, and my motivational level is pretty low -

- Printed and clipped coupons.

- Organized my coupon stash (expired to donate, not going to use before expiry I share with coworkers, coupons for the next trip).

- Started the grocery list for next time.

- Looked up a Chinese restaurant on Grubhub for dinner.

- Called and ordered dinner.

- Came across a free Shutterfly code for a mousepad - SPOOKIE. Expires today! I don't need any more of them for gifts, so I'm sitting this one out.

That's pretty much it. I'm going to finish my wonton soup and head to bed early I think.

Journeymom, that's wonderful! I hope the start-up difficulties are smoothed out soon.

Today both "kids" (they are 20 and 17 y.o.) were home this afternoon. It was a beautiful, crisp fall day. I got a big pot of chili simmering on the stove. Then we hauled out the Hallowe'en decorations. We now have a graveyard on the front lawn with bloody limbs and bones and skulls strewn about, the house is under attack from huge spiders and draped in cobweb and there's a few other vermin (rats and bats) hanging about.

Afterward, we enjoyed some hot cider and homebaked sour cream and cinnamon cookies. We had the chili for dinner with some fresh homemade sourdough bread.

It was a lot of fun.

Otherwise, I did some not-so-fun vacuuming, re-organized some storage space, walked the dog, and finished a library book (okay that was fun, I really liked the book). I'm going to start a sponge soon for baking bread tomorrow and then I think my day is done.

I thought of it as a middling season for color.  A warm fall, which made whatever color there was feel weird.

No carving pumpkins here.  We have a plain one out on the porch, though.  My mother has culinary designs on it, but I'm making her wait until after tomorrow.

Today I:

- took a walk with my dog in the first snowflakes of the season (!)

- went to the bank to take care of an IRS form for a non-profit -- almost done and will submit it soon

- got a flu shot

- got car inspected, failed, waiting for parts, spending a last few fond days with $1,600.00

- grabbed a quick lunch

- participated in a final VNA visit with my mother

- walked down to get the mail

- built our soup for dinner

About to throw a ham in the oven.  This evening DH is doing some duct work in the attic; I'll probably go up and join him, do some purging.  Good-bye, extra stuff, buh-bye!!!

There's another 101 free Shutterfly prints till Friday I think? SPOOKY is the code. I want to get those so I can fill in her baby book before her birthday on the 12th. smile.gif

I got just over 14 pts of salsa. No wonder it wore me out! I'm not sure how it canned up, but raw it was very tasty. But that was Monday.

Today I've almost finished laundry
Done dishes
Gave myself a facial, winter skin already!
Made mac and (gluten free) cheese
Feed the dogs and us a few times
Measured where I want to plant my spring bulbs
Cleaned things up. Then cleaned again. She makes such a mess!
Tried with little success to get her to nap, we both need it
Emailed the airport to ask a few questions about our trip
Talked to my parents

STILL NEED TO
Get her to nap, snooze some myself
Do more dishes
Fold and put away two loads of laundry
Make super
Call and check on my MIL
Slice and marinate some meat for jerky
Give the baby a bath
Spend time with hubby
List some stuff online
Load pics to Shutterfly

Haha, like most of that will be done today...

I see I'm not the only one trolling for Shutterfly codes! :-)

Got a few things done today -

- Printed some coupons.

- Made dinner.

- Tidied the apartment.

- Laid out my clothes for work tomorrow - orange and black with pumpkin earrings!

- Baked mini vanilla cupcakes in the cute jack-o-lantern muffin liners I found at Dollar Tree. I'll take half to work for our Halloween potluck tomorrow.

- Paid the internet bill.

Just need to whip up a buttercream frosting for the cupcakes, and get them frosted when they're cool enough, and put the pumpkin seeds in to roast when I pull the cupcakes out of the oven in a bit here.

It's been a long day and it will be even longer ...we waited until the last minute to work on the kid's costumes so we are helping them build their creeper costumes tonight.  If it rains tomorrow night as predicted, the kids will wear their backup costumes and save the creeper costumes to play with.  They went to a Halloween party last night and put together a 'fancy kitty' costume and a 'random guy who likes top hats and moustache' costume so they can use those again tomorrow.

So today I:

-took the kids to their Wednesday class

-trimmed the piggy's nails

-WAH for three hours

-laundry

-cleaned and vacuumed living and dining room

-went to bank

-dropped off donations

-went to grocery store to buy mini muffin cups to make peanut butter cups tomorrow

-scheduled eye appointments

-went to hardware store

-took kids to art class

-took daughter to drama class

-picked up pizza and fried pickles (the kids wanted to try them...they weren't bad)

-assisting with costumes (ongoing...I hope we are done by 11:00)

I was also hoping to use the Shutterfly coupon code for free prints but I never got to it today.

Well...it's 10:30 and the costumes are not completed and the kids are going to bed.  We'll have to finish them tomorrow.

So far, so good:

- got some paperwork ready for a non-profit board meeting tomorrow

- shoved some furniture and boxes around the attic, making a little more wiggle room

- emptied and donated an old sewing desk

- purged the papers from said desk

- dropped my mother off at her house

Now the dog and I are off to take a walk and enjoy a leisurely lunch.

- ^^^ did that

- took out a bunch of trash (home improvement project type, not just household), ditto recycling and composting

- started a fire in the wood stove

- after overheating from scrubbing the gunked-up wood stove glass

Next might be my mother's list.  I'll be picking her up in a while and hauling home some more things she wants here.

- ^^^ brought back some more of her stuff, plus

- took a bunch by the donation center

- brought it all inside and put it away, purging some of my duplicates

- took some notes for that meeting tomorrow

- folded and put away a load of laundry

Now a quick dinner (whoops, typed "donner," unfortunate).  It's steak with a tomato and mozzarella salad, so I'll make a vinaigrette and palm the rest off on DH.

We had a great evening here - mostly fun stuff! I got off work early, so that was nice.

- Got everyone into costumes for trick or treating.

- Went trick or treating for almost two hours.

- Watched It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.

Checked my work email.

Now Little Man is in bed and we're just relaxing. We had a lot of fun!

You bet!

Today's big accomplishment just woke up. Lol She fell asleep nursing while I was on the actual PC and she was watching Veggie Tales on my Kindle across the room. I think she was out for about an hour but hard to say since I couldn't see her face.

Beside that, I just text someone who wants to come get one of the last puppies today. That'll make one left and one with someone coming for him tomorrow. I can't wait to not have a gang around my feet when I go outside. Though I will say, three is easier to deal with than seven was....

I put beef jerky in the dehydrator earlier, I Think it's missing something. It doesn't smell like it should. But it still smells yum.: )

I have diapers ready to be folded, and a basket of rags that need sorted, folded and put back in the cabinet. They were smelling musty and not very absorbent, so I gave them my best Pinterest treatment. :)

I quick cleaned the bathroom and washed the inside windows in the bathroom and bedroom.

Dusted the bedroom, oh shoot, forgot the fan.

Actually made the bed as well as I can with the crib side carred.

Straightened the house multiple times. It needs it again. Something about this kid and the house never quite picked up.

Did some online research.

Fed the dogs and us.

Still need to:

Do dishes

Find out when they want to get that puppy and make arrangements for someone to come over with me. It's not that I don't trust random strangers who text or email me from online places, it's just that I don't trust random strangers. Bwahaha

Check the jerky tonight

Relist the pups in a couple good weekend spots so the last one goes fast.

Call and check on my MIL later, find out how hubby's Gma's surgery went (she's getting a pacemaker for a problem she's had since she was 9. She's now almost 92.... Sometimes I question her doctor's good intentions.)

Clean some more.

Take out trash.

Etc, etc

Can we believe it's November already? And I just have to say, the next holiday is Thanksgiving. I refuse to acknowledge that other upcoming holiday, despite the instant advertising that cropped up today. Holiday jumpers... Anyhow, got a few things done today after work -

- Printed some coupons (yay first of the month resets!).

- Put away all of the Halloween decorations.

- Took out my limited supply of Thanksgiving decorations. Going to need to troll Pinterest later for cheap fall-neutral/Thanksgiving decorating ideas I can do.

- Tidied the house.

- Wrote the rent check so husband could mail it on his way to work.

- Searched for a missing gourd, with no luck. Little Man had four on the dresser in his room, but now there are only three. I'd like to find it before it starts rotting somewhere...

And that's really it. For the weekend, I've got a few things I'd like to get done -

- Sort through the yard sale boxes and pull out stuff that likely won't sell, but is still decent - we'll donate that stuff to Goodwill.

- Sort through Little Man's clothes to pull out stuff he's outgrown and summer stuff he won't wear again.

- Make apple pie filling.

- Get the butternut squash from the garden into the freezer. It's holding up just fine at room temp, but I'm tired of it sitting on the counter.

^^^ Hope your GMIL is doing well.  Wow.

Busy admin day today:

- went to a board meeting

- walked dog

- did a little yard work while dog looked pretty lying in the leaves

- talked with my mother's realtor about her house

- did physical therapy stretches

- hung out and chatted with mother while she had dinner

- got the mail

- emailed DS2 about a check he got

- paid a bunch of bills

- ran some budget forecasts:  our speakers are crapping out, car failed inspection, and the propane came yesterday  :P

Basically I got to everything except the paper purging I'd set for myself.  Tomorrow.

Fairly productive Saturday morning here -

- Sorted Little Man's clothes and reorganized his dresser drawers.

- Went to Target (alone!) to check out the Halloween/fall clearance deals and found some great stuff for 50% off.

- Stopped at Dollar Tree.

- Went to Goodwill and found two things I've been searching for forever - a Radio Flyer wagon and a brand new wedding album.

- Filled the car up with gas.

- Put out some Thanksgiving decorations that I picked up while shopping.

I need to eat something lunch-ish, but I might take a short nap while Little Man is napping (better do it now or I won't get one!). And then this afternoon I need to sort the yard sale/donation items and figure out how to make the room to hide a wagon until Christmas...

Got a few more things crossed off the list in the last few hours -

- Had a nap for a little over a half hour, but it was more like just resting my eyes since I didn't really fall asleep (which is rare for me).

- Sorted through the yard sale stuff to donate - and decided to donate it all rather than hold it for another year for a yard sale. Four boxes worth.

- Moved some boxes of canning supplies out of Little Man's closet and put them into ours, making room for the wagon in his. Now I just have to borrow a giant drop cloth from my in laws to cover it with so Little Man doesn't see it when we go in the closet.

- Reorganized the gift box in our closet to fit in some things that were sitting out in bags.

- Fixed the light switch pull for the master closet light - the dumpy string came off, so I replaced it with a nice white ribbon. Looks better!

- Tidied Little Man's book case.

- Looked for the missing gourd some more. It's still missing...

- Cleaned out my simmer pot and replaced the water and spices with new ones.

The rest of the afternoon will just be hanging out and playing inside - it's keeps raining off and on. And I need to get the chili for dinner started. I didn't really eat lunch, so I'm starving.
