Isn't that the most wonderful thing? I got up at 4 the other morning, rested enough to be coherent. I stoked the fire, pulled up my chair, snuggled under a blanket, and has an entire cup of tea. Alone. No help. Not even hubby. Sheer bliss. I was just wishing that it was snowing and I had Christmas lights and a long book with zero reason to get up till it was finished and I was done basking in the afterglow of the book. Oh well. SOME OF US (me) need to learn contentment to its fullest. Anyhow, The tea was lovely. Very lovely.

And hopefully I can write a blog post that I need to get done this week for Thanksgiving. Other than that... probably not much.

I really should log in and claim my Swags and just split. I think I will on MySurveys too. Though they are really great for surveys and points. I just spend all my "free internet time" on the Kindle. Most of the surveys aren't compatible, so I've not taken many. I think in about 2 years, I earn $100 from them. Not too bad.

I've considered taking up blogging, but no idea what about. I love to chat and teach, so I'm thinking DIY, but I'm not sure I'm original enough for that. I would want to try to make a little extra money from it too, so I know that takes a bit of initial money and a lot of time. I could come up with the money easy enough, but the time. Maybe when she is older and can help with subsequent children. She's a very high needs girl.

So I apparently earned 27 points for my recent Shutterfly order since I visited the Shutterfly through the Swagbucks site - I wish I had known that two months ago when I was placing all of those orders! So maybe I will keep it for that, but the surveys have never worked for me either, and the toolbar is a PITA. It made the computer so slow I had to uninstall it.  It sounds like MySurveys is decent though - do they have gift cards for places like Target or Amazon in their rewards? Maybe I should check them out.

Why not start a blog? I've had one for years and it's been great fun, though I've made the conscious choice not to monetize it. It's really hard for the average person who doesn't blog full time to make money at it.

Okay, now I am going to go finish my grocery list! As usual, the evening is getting away from me...

Well, I did it - finished my Target grocery match ups for this week. I'll be getting $70 worth of food for $27, and that includes a turkey and two hams. Not too bad.

WOOT-WOOT!

Last night's planning paid off - in addition to the bargains I got on grocery shopping, I also got a Catalina coupon at Target for $20 of Shutterfly coupons! Major score. So did a few things today -

- Printed and clipped coupons.

- Went grocery shopping.

- Put away all of the groceries.

- Entered my Shutterfly code.

- Designed the following things on Shutterfly to use free codes I have to use in the next month - Valentine's Day cards, thank you cards, note cards, and address labels. Still need to design a magnet and select 101 4x6 prints, but I'm not going to get to that tonight.

- Called my aunt in law to thank her for an early birthday present she sent to me.

And now I think I'm going to bed!

Yesterday was brutal for this introvert, in addition to the regular walk-dog-do-PT-make-dinner, I joined in the company when a friend of my mother's came to visit for lunch.  Then in the evening I went to a public hearing for a proposed segment of road in our city.  Hard feelings, all around, and understandable stress in some cases, but I felt as though I'd been invited to a family dinner and ended up in the middle of an acrimonious divorce hearing instead.

Today has been busy but a bit calmer:

- dropped mother off at her house

- got groceries, put them away

- had a late, peaceful breakfast

- walked with dog

- did PT

- kept the fire going and brought in some wood

- emailed back and forth with people about some upcoming planning meetings

- cleared cobwebs out of our stairwell

- cleaned a couple of mirrors

- started broiling some meat for lunch

- got my mother

- finished cooking lunch

- troubleshot our Christmas lights -- found replacement strands today, yippee!!!  LOVE Christmas lights!  I use them into March!

- am now eating and trying not to let my excitement about that get the better of me  :P

Not a whole lot actually done today thus far, but I've got a good intentions list. So far done -

- Put away clean dishes from the dishwasher.

- Loaded dirty dishes into the dishwasher.

- Did a few random things on Swagbucks - I don't know why I can't just give up on that yet.

- Replied to an email about a guest blogger opportunity with a magazine (fingers crossed they select me!).

- Put away dinner leftovers (husband cooked before he went to work).

- Did a happy dance when my first issue of my free Country Living subscription showed up - Recyclebank is for real with legit rewards! Yay! You never know until you actually get them, you know? I'm hoping I get the other one (This Old House) soon.

- Searched for Shutterfly codes but didn't find anything new (like I don't have enough orders to place as it is...)

Still to do this evening -

- Plan out tomorrow's non-food Target run. We are putting together a shoe box to donate to Operation Christmas Child, so I want to hit up the One Spot while I still have my 20% discount on Cartwheel to get some small toys and necessities - they have socks and gloves and such right now. I'm really excited - I'm going to have Little Man help me pick out things and assemble the box, and I've explained that we're going to give it as holiday present donation to another little boy. I figure 2 is not to young to teach that charity starts at home.

- Write a few blog posts - need to get the Thanksgiving relevant stuff up now.

- Design a magnet on Shutterfly and pick out prints to order, and place my orders for all the free cards I designed yesterday (through my Swagbucks account this time!).

And hopefully I can sit down with my new magazines and read for a little while too! I've got the new Saveur that I haven't gotten to yet as well.

We've got a busy day of running around going here -

- Made farina for breakfast.

- Dropped husband off at work for a day shift.

- Stopped at Michaels to use some 50% off coupons - got chalk markers for myself and yellow spray paint for husband.

- Went to Dollar Tree to pick up items for the shoe box donation for Operation Christmas Child.

- Stopped at Target for some more One Spot items for the shoe box, as well as pouch food.

- Came home and had a light lunch and put Little Man down for a nap.

Still to come this afternoon -

- Another trip to a second Target for more pouch food and One Spot items.

- Go to the library.

- Get quarters for laundry.

- Stop at another Dollar Tree to see if I can find plastic deer for a craft project.

- Stop at Michaels again to pick up the glitter paint I forgot this morning.

- Wipe down the bathroom.

- Vacuum the house.

- Get the turkey defrosting!

- Assemble the shoe box so we can drop it off tomorrow.

- Figure out something to make for dinner.

Didn't do everything I intended to this afternoon since I fell asleep and had a nap while Little Man was napping, but I guess I needed it. What I did manage -

- Stopped at a second Target for some more One Spot items for Christmas and pouch food (they have a slightly different selection).

- Stopped at a second Dollar Tree to try to find small deer, but did not. But I did find red and white striped and brown paper wrapping paper for Christmas and a plastic shoe box for the donation gift.

- Ran into Whole Foods to pick up the Kirk's Castille Soap I forgot while grocery shopping last week.

- Braved the cursed mall to pick up cosmetics. Seriously hate that place.

- Picked up husband from work.

- Started dinner.

And that's pretty much it. I'm so tired...

How's everyone's weekend going so far? This morning it's been house cleaning in between playing with Little Man. So far -

- Did a little bit of office work since I'm the on call support person for today.

- Made breakfast.

- Cleaned the microwave.

- Cleaned the stove.

- Put away clean dishes.

- Loaded dirty breakfast dishes into the dishwasher.

- Unpackaged some new socks and underwear to throw into the laundry.

- Cleaned the bathroom sink and mirrors (husband did the tub and toilet).

Still to come -

- Assemble our shoe box donation. Husband and Little Man will be dropping it off tomorrow since today's collection times are after he takes the car to work.

- Assemble a box for Holiday Helper.

- Sort the laundry so it's ready for husband to do tomorrow.

- Vacuum the furniture and carpets.

- Change the bedding on both beds (including putting the duvet cover back on our bed - I hate it - you have to literally crawl inside the stupid thing to get it to lay correctly. Next time we upgrade our bedding, I'm totally going back to a regular quilt.).

- Put up some Thanksgiving window clings that I thrifted yesterday.

- Put away the Christmas stuff I've started to collect and let pile up in our master closet...

- Bake pumpkin muffins for breakfasts.

- Write at least one blog post.

Plus lots of play time and stories. :-)

^^^  Wow, you need some slacker bed-making tips from me.  Definitely go back to a quilt when you get the chance.  Sounds like a productive and fun time your way this weekend!

Yesterday was low-key, ran to the natural food coop for groceries, took mother to church, made dinner with DH, talked budget planning with DH, built a fire in the wood stove, and read.

Today's a little more ambitious:

- got up to get mother to her house for around 9 AM

- hung out with DH, more money planning (DS2 is a college senior next year, and we'll be done with tuition after that!)

- walked with my dog; she loves this weather (twenties and gusty), she's a Bernese Mountain Dog

- was DH's sounding board for some more of that attic work

I still plan to:

- make DS2 more pop tarts done

- pin DS1 down about Thanksgiving travel; we want to rent a U-Haul to get some furniture down for him and his GF

- make kielbasa and cabbage soup simmering

- pick up my mother and had to take a detour, wind took a huge tree limb down into the road

- give DH a haircut

- do a bit of purging -- my current target is a huge pile of papers

- sit in front of the fire very diligently -- not yet, but brought in more wood and am keeping it fed

ETA:

- took a couple of loose items from the porch and yard into the shed; winds are still high

- built DS2's care package

About to get in front of the fire.  The other things I'll get to, or will have to wait for "What did DS1 accomplish today?"

About to get in front of the fire.

Yes I do! I'm totally the pull-up-the-covers-and-go type of bed maker, so I don't even know what possessed me to get a duvet in the first place. Exactly the same thing with my hair - I've grown it out long so I can have Downton Abbey hair, when I'm a wash and go girl. Apparently I forgot that I don't have a ladies' maid... Also, I'm always so jealous of your fires MariaMadly!

And since I don't have a ladies' maid or household staff, I'm proud to say I got most of my list completed this afternoon -

- Assembled our shoe box donation. Husband and Little Man will be dropping it off tomorrow since today's collection times are after he takes the car to work.

- Assembled a box for Holiday Helper.

- Sorted the laundry so it's ready for husband to do tomorrow.

- Vacuumed the furniture and carpets.

- Put up some Thanksgiving window clings that I thrifted yesterday (in Little Man's room - he was so excited).

- Put away the Christmas stuff I've started to collect and let pile up in our master closet...

- Baked pumpkin muffins for breakfasts.

- Wrote a blog post.

I even did some bonus items!

- Made myself proper dinner (amazing since I've been in food rut world lately).

- Packed lunches for tomorrow.

- Laid out my clothes for work (challenging to choose something office-worthy since we're on pre-laundry dregs).

- Packed my bag for work.

- Clipped a few coupons.

And lots of play time with Little Man today - we played cars, we read, we rolled around on the floor (interestingly, one of his favorite things to do), and played snake. He goes through fazes where he likes us to pretend we're different animals; I thought he was never going to want to try anything other than dog. But it was a snake who tickles today. Loads of fun. :-)

What's the one thing I didn't do today? Wrestle with that bleeping duvet! I flipped it over, fluffed it up and called it a day. Now I'm going to finish my mini glass of wine, get into some PJs and watch a rerun of Downton Abbey. It's the Christmas Special where Matthew proposes to Mary, so it should be good. :-)

Ramping up for the holiday here:

- dropped my mother off at her house so she could hack away at and stew a gigantic pumpkin

- mailed DS2's care package

- got groceries, including turkey and ham for Thursday

- put them away (hate that part . . . though first-world problem, right?)

- dumped dinner in the crock pot

- walked with dog

- made appointment for dog's ultrasound next week

- did PT stretches

- got mother

- figured out which subway lines to use on a day trip to Nearby Big City DH and I are taking next week

- made appointment for my mother's boiler to be cleaned and inspected

- hauled in more wood -- kitchensqueen, definitely go with that one you had linked -- no logs to carry!

Now I might be done, though I have a backlog of printing I need to do and have been putting off hauling the printer down from the attic.  Another first-world problem.

Tomorrow and Wednesday is a quick pass to get the place not-appalling for company and confirm meal components for Thursday.

Sounds like a lot done to me!  Though, yeah, the days I feel best are the ones I don't try to get to much out of myself.  :P

Thought the house was ready for people tomorrow and Thursday, guess not:

- ran out and bought a kitchen drawer organizer (yay!) and t-shirts for DH

- and returned a library book, cashed a check for my mother, and got the new lenses for my glasses

- folded one load of laundry and washed and hung another

- walked with dog

- took trash, recycling, and compost out to the shed

- reorganized the kitchen drawer that was the target of new organizer, see above

- visited with my neighbor

- brought in a couple armloads of firewood

- dusted

- moved some boxes from DS1's room (visiting this weekend) to DS2's (not)

- went over Thursday's menu with my mother

- made DH some lunches for work

Making dinner now, and plain rolls.  Tomorrow is a quick pass with broom and vacuum cleaner.  And making pumpkin garlic knots.

Hahaha well maybe you've cured me of my jealousy!

Mixed bag of a day here -

- Went through the mail.

- Reorganized some power cords for the wireless router and computer peripherals to make things tidier and make room for the Christmas lights next week.

- Tidied the living room.

- Did the bedtime routine with Little Man.

Next up, watching a movie with husband and maybe addressing the Christmas cards.

Catching my breath but in good shape, I think:

- popped the plain rolls in the oven (dough rose in fridge overnight)

- swept the floors

- vacuumed the rugs

- chatted with a girlfriend about some furniture her husband might buy from my mother

- reviewed the recipe for the pumpkin garlic knots; never made them before; will make dough this evening

- was a quasi-sous-chef helping my mother find things while she baked

- brought my printer down from the attic and printed the backlog of things I need

- did my stretches

- sat down to a blessedly uninterrupted lunch

- hung out with my mother and heard some very interesting family stories from Ago

DS1 just texted from the bus terminal, he may be home before 4 PM!  I'll go pick him up, maybe combined with a (masochistic) last-minute grocery run.

Happy holiday to U.S. people, and good travels to those on their way somewhere!

You're ahead of me with Thanksgiving prep! My list is still to do for the evening -

- Put the turkey to brine.

- Bake a pumpkin pie.

- Make a chocolate pie.

- Iron the tablecloth.

- Take down the china.

Guess I should get off here and get to it...
