Names already? - Page 2

We have a girls name picked out already (the same one we've had picked out since our first child was born). Boys names are a little tougher. We have some we've been tossing around.

Our boys now have the names:

Gabriel (Gabe)

Otto

Ezekiel (Zeke)

Titus.

So we're looking for something that isn't terribly trendy and kind of unique, it has to go with the names of the kids we have already. Unfortunately the girl name we have wasn't very popular 9 years ago, but has boomed in popularity lately. We have the name picked out after my husband's grandmother.

Thanks for the positive feedback, ladies!  I found Deacon when I was reading about Reese's son, also Linnie!  I immediately fell in love with it. My husband had heard of it from the Blade movies, there is a character named Deacon Frost and he liked that name also.  I have a feeling this one might be a boy, so we may just have our Deacon on the way :)

And yes, we do have a facebook group!  Add me on facebook and I can invite you, www.facebook.com/janelleskalla but let me know who you are, I have a ton of friends and new ones added every day so I won't know who you are unless you let me know :)

Hahahaha- my husband only agreed to Deacon because of the Blade movies too! That is hilarious! We were originally going to do Deacon Jones Murray- using my maiden name as the middle name but apparently, Deacon Jones was a fairly well known football player in the 70's! I will look for you on fbook. I am Lindsay Jones Murray on there.

Hahah that is great!  I really like Deacon Frost actually, it sounds kind of awesome, but I totally won't name my kid after a blade movie LOL!

My DH suggested Frost as the middle name too and I burst out laughing because our DD's middle name is Winter and I am not starting some new weird tradition!

My last we didn't name until she was 3 hours old. I still have the hospital card that was in her crib that says "Baby Girl" and our last name LOL

I love your girl's names!  I live that they are unique, but classical, and strong but girlie.  I think girl's names are so hard to pick!

My DH really wants to have the final say this time around and I really did choose the other two (although Ronald is after my husbands father). We have been tossing around the names James Derek and Sarah June for the last year and we have become attached to those names. I LOVE names like Iris, Edwin, Caroline, Benedict, Evelyn and Darcy but like I said, it feels like we have already decided. We even have a nickname if it is a boy that we have named James. I love baby names. It is one of my favorite things about being pregnant. We will be finding out the gender. Who else is planning on doing that? We are HORRIBLE with surprises! I am loving the website nameberry.com.

I love your kids' names, too!  Very strong, but fresh sounding.

That said, the hubs is DEAD SET on naming a boy Tristan.  He doesn't care about a girl name, I can name her, I can even do the boy middle name, but he is set on Tristan.  Ummm.....pray for pink, pray for pink. Right now boy name is Tristan Guy.  I'd really prefer to honor my dad by replicating his initials GMW instead of naming the poor kid Guy :) My boy names are Graham and Grant, and I love love love Ben.

Girls names, well, one of my best friends and college roomie died last year so I would somehow love to work her name in.  So I have Whitney, Healy (which was also the dorm we lived in) and Smith.  I had a dream in college we had a girl named Kate, so I'd like to somehow work that in.  The baby is due on my gram's birthday, her name was Nellie, and hubs and I both love Ruby and Charlotte.  So that leaves us with Ruby, Ruby-Kate, Charlotte Healy (Charlie), Nellie Mae, and a few others.  No matter what, we won't be talked out of our name choice this time!!!

I hate that being talked out of names!  I wanted to name my last little one a certain name in particular--but talked myself out of it.  But I can consider it again with this little one! I love the name Tristan.  Lance is another "knightly" name that I love, too.

I love love love Revere!  And the girls names sound royal.  <3

I love the order of your guys' names!  I hear you on the boys names getting tougher.  With 3 boys I have a few names I still like, but they have to all go together, too.  I like how yours are good as a set. I can see a Thad or a Thaddeus in there for some reason!

For girls I like Lucy, Zoe, Phoebe, and Libby.  All of our middle names in my WHOLE family - like several generations worth - are family names, so I'm not so stressed about that one.  I have an Aunt Rosie (her real name is Roseanna, I think), so I kinda like Lucy Rose.  Now that I think of it, though, I like Lucy Roseanna, too, because Anna is my Great-Grandmother's name (who is alive & kickin' at 102!).

Boys - I have NO CLUE!!!!!  Help!

My DH likes Eleanor too!! Lucy is so cute too -- you could just do both! Lucy Eleanor! Ours will probably be Eleanor Allison..and I'll call her Allie <3

Girls- we're thinking Evelyn Inara (or Inara Evelyn?). Evelyn is a family name, and Inara we just like. We also have a Nigella and Orrin, so again with the slightly unusual names and feeling like they all have to go together. (I can't make this NOT italicized, picky thing!)

Boys- we are totally clueless. We had such a hard time with Orrin, we were at like 8 months and still had absolutely no idea. We can't agree on anything, which is hard because coming up with an idea either of us like is really hard to begin with.

My daughter suggested Clelin Mark a few months back. It's actually a pretty name, not sure on the spelling. Other than that, way too early for me. lol

I am loving nameberry.com- they really try to stay ahead of the trends. Here is their newest list- it gives some good boys names...http://nameberry.com/blog/boys-names-2011-the-underground-popularity-list . Hope this helps :) I think that we are sticking with James Derek. Although James is always in or around the top 10- I personally cannot think of any baby James's born for years and none of my friends can either. There are none at my daughter's school. I know a few kids who have the middle name James but no first names!

We're a multi-ethnic couple, and we're trying to find a name that works in both cultures. Luckily, there's some overlap even though the cultures are totally different. We're trying to find a name that honors both cultures and is still unique and meaningful. And also something that's easy for most people to pronounce.

I have an affinity for Old Testament names right now (out of nowhere) and I'm really into Josiah right now (it would be Yushiya to our families) My husband hates that name, haha. Oh well :)

maryamrose, what ethnicity are you and your partner?  I love multi-ethnic families.  So interesting to watch how everything gets transformed and combined.

I'm liking Georgia Grace, Taryn Mae, Harmony (no middle name yet) or Charlotte Elizabethe for a girl or Caleb Jeffrey for a boy.  I'm thinking I'm having a girl so those names have been easier to come up with this time!

Ok, so we really like Elijah Phoenix for a boy and I am partial to Delaney Faye or Teagen Faye for a girl (Faye was my grandmothers middle name) It will change, MANY times LOL

I am thinking Gilead for a boy or a girl.  I feel like the name came to me as a promise.  Gilead was a place of healing in the Bible and I think our family is finally arriving at peace after several years of struggle.  The pregnancy itself was a surprise and I have always experienced remission from chronic illness while pregnant or breastfeeding and am already feeling better than I have in ages so I like the symbolism.

Layne, what a great name...w/ such fabulous meaning behind it!
