I'm Katie and I'm 28 (soon to be 29).
I have been married to a wonderful husband for 8 years, and we have been together for ten.
We have a 7 year old, 6 year old and 4 year old daughter.
A lot of changes this year for us - we moved from a bigger city to a rural community on the Oregon coast. My Dad passed away, so we moved in to his house to manage things. We rented out our old home.
My husband works as a gas station attendant, and you know I couldn't be prouder of him. He's always worked for big corporations and when we moved out here we were really struggling. Power company knocking on the door to turn off our power, struggling. Finally a job opened up 1.5 miles from home that gives us Sabbath off and we took it.
We're really very content.
We had plans to do a mission in Costa Rica, but uh. Well...Not any time soon :)
We are very faithful people. I was an atheist just 3 years ago, but...well, our Creator works in mysterious ways and it is only in retrospect we see the big picture. :)
We don't belong to a particular denomination, but follow Torah, and believe in our Messiah, etc.
We are learning to speak and read/write Hebrew.
Like Sosurreal, I could go on but I don't want to bore any one! lol
I home school my children, and we aren't as crunchy as many or as I use to be. Honestly, I was driving myself crazy trying to be something I wasn't.
I do plan on breastfeeding this baby, I always gave up with my daughters cause I got 'touched out'. I am finding that I still have the ability to get touched out, cause since I got pregnant I'm just not big on the kids climbing all over me.
We still sleep in the same bed though.
We baby wear, cloth diaper, don't vaccinate, have homebirths - give me a checklist and I'll fill it out. BUT - those things matter so little in the big picture, I believe.
My parenting philosophy: As long as my children know they are loved each day, that is my goal as a mom.
A person can't go too far wrong if they know they are loved more than all of life's possessions by their parents.
I love to knit, crochet, sew, scrapbook
Current project is a wool light blue knitted blanket done in seed stitch
and a denim flowery mei-tei - bought the fabric for $4 at a thrift store and had more then enough for long straps and front. Super jazzed.
I love museums, the beach, thai food (fat chance finding that out here, I miss salad rolls), and reading.
I love thrift stores. I buy almost every thing I can there.
I am a full time honor student, a junior at a good university. I think this next term will be my last for a while though. I am going for my teaching degree after a tragedy at the last birth I attended. Before that I was hoping to become a midwife after getting my bach. of science some time down the line, and enjoyed doula'ing at births.
I am interviewing a couple midwives this week for this birth.
