placenta release from Highland Park Hospital?

Thread Starter

I am going to be having a baby next month & really want to get my placenta encapsulated. I called the hospital to find out what I need to do to get released to me after the birth. I am getting a lot of resistance from them, that it is a biohazard & infectious waste. Has anyone found what they need to do to get their placenta? I'm not really sure where to go from here....

Since no one else has responded yet, I'll chime in... My DS1 was born 14 years ago at Evanston Hospital and they refused to let me keep my placenta. They claimed it was a biohazard and medical waste. Mind you, things may have hopefully changed in the years for the North Shore Hospitals, but I would talk with your care provider beforehand and be prepared to put up a fight and/or sign release papers.

I hope it works out well for you. :-)
