Buying Meat Direct from Farmer

Does anyone do that?  Can you recommend a farm in MN?

My DH and I are talking about doing this and I am wondering, is it cheaper than buying from the store or is it more of a quality thing?  I am interested in it from a money perspective as we are not an organic/grass fed family.  My DH works at Target HQ so we get 15% off our groceries so it might not be cheaper but I did want to do a bit of research.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

For us, it's a money AND a quality thing.  We get beefalo and pork from a farm near Elysian, but pick up the quarters and halves at Odenthal Meats south of New Prague where they are butchered.  Great meat for cheaper than a lot of store cuts when you average it out.  You pay by the pound not the cut, so all in all it seems like you are getting expensive hamburger but also cheap steaks since they all cost the same.

I love these people and highly recommend them.
