double strollers

Does anyone have any double stroller recommendations? DH likes something similar to this one (http://www.onestepahead.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId=537542&parentCategoryId=85184&categoryId=85219). A sit and stand double stroller. But I am wondering how practical they are?

Personally, I have an Ergo and a ring sling that I would rather use with the newbie and keep DD in her current stroller.

I love our sit and stand for things like the zoo, aquarium or mall.  It doesn't steer well enough for my liking as an all the time stroller.

I wore my daughter and used the single stroller for my toddler until my daughter was around 6 months.  We still do it now sometimes though and she is 1.5.  We have a sit'n'stand and I love it.  My son is now 3 and he is constantly getting in and out of the stroller, so it's super nice for that.  We use it on walks, zoo, malls, etc...  I also have a side by side double that we barely use now, but did when the kids were a little younger.  Point being, I would definitely recommend a sit'n'stand type stroller.  It isn't as difficult to steer as a graco double I pushed once.  I, personally, will not spend money on the super expensive strollers (like B.O.B.) just because they are easier to steer.

I have a sit and stand and really like it.  My boys are 10 mos and 3.5 yrs.  It's a little harder to steer, it takes both hands.  I got used to steering my old single stroller one-handed, so I'm spoiled.  But it's perfect for a baby and an older sibling.

We have a phil and teds and love it.  The convenience of being able to make it a single or double is great.

All of the reviews I've found for sit and stands say that the "baby part" (for lack of a better word) doesn't recline enough for a tiny baby. I'm due in March so I think that by the time we would be using it, DC will be a couple of months old. BUT it would be used on walks at the park or around the block. Do we think it's still a candidate? I'm thinking that I would just put DC in the Ergo and DD can hang in her single stroller but DH and the grandma's think we should get a double. Plus I've heard that the sit and stands pose a problem with trying to get the infant car seat in them? IDK. This is so new to me. Thanks for the help!

Edited to add: We currently have a single baby jogger and never put the infant car seat in it. So that's kinda foreign to me too.

What kind of phil and teds do you have?

Haven't got a chance to use my sit and stand yet (due in 2 weeks!) - I got the deluxe version here - which I chose because I can put the infant seat closest to me, and have my toddler in the front. A lot of double strollers only allow the infant seat to be locked in the front, with your toddler stuck behind, which seemed odd to me. Also, because DS will only be 22 months when this LO arrives, I wanted to option to have 2 full seats, vs. just the jump seat on the normal sit and stand - he still falls asleep sometimes when we are out and about, and I'd like him to be able to continue to nap.

If you want just the basic sit and stand, stalk craigslist, consignment stores and yard sales - I see them all the time. I was really fortunate and found mine on clearance at target 50% off (it was an online purchase, in-store return. since they can't stock it, they mark it down significantly) - so was less than $90.

I have used the double with two toddlers, and I don't mind the steering, honestly. it folds up compact enough to fit in the back of my 2006 Scion XB, which is saying something! and easy to fold and unfold.

We used our new maclaren double TWICE in two years because I found it more convenient to have the baby in the sling and the toddler walking. What a waste of money...

I am thinking of getting this:

http://www.amazon.com/Joovy-Caboose-Ultralight-Stroller-Blueberry/dp/B003H4QFPU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1316179559&sr=8-1

I'm on the fence....when my dd  was born, her older brother was 3.5 and we didn't really have much use for a double stroller.  I mostly carried dd in a wrap, ergo, etc. and when she was old enough to go in the stroller, ds could walk longer distances.  I did buy a cheap double jogging stroller, so we could talk walks around the neighborhood and to nearby playgrounds.  But it's huge and doesn't really fit in a car trunk.  Now we have another baby due, and dd will be exactly 3. I am thinking of getting the Joovy because I think I need something bigger than our ancient Maclaren umbrella stroller, for trips to the zoo etc with all 3 kids.  I like the Joovy because it will hold an infant car seat if necessary (though I'm probably not going to use this option much).  It's not much bigger than a single stroller, so I could use it with just the baby when the older siblings are off at school.  It offers room to stash bags and coats, so I don't have to carry everything while wrangling three kids.  A friend has a similar model (regular, not ultralight, costs around $150) and they have gotten a lot of use out of it.  Her kids are 2 years apart.

That's what I think we are leaning towards now. Babies R Us has a "turn in your old stuff" event that ends this weekend. We wanted to buy the stroller then so that we'll get the 25% discount. I think we finally decided to just buy it now and if we hate it return it and get something else.

Thanks everyone for the help!
