is your family bed wrapped? what do you use over the plastic?

I am trying to make our bed more comfortable. We have always had it wrapped in plastic with a cotton blanket and cotton sheets. I would like something else between the plastic and the sheets and was wondering what other people use.

I have never heard of this. Can i ask why your bed is wrapped in plastic?

If it's because of night-time pee accidents, then I have a better solution for you!

We bought several of the big washable puppy training pads (the ones for large breeds) at Petsmart.  They are ultra absorbent. I stitched them together and put them under our sheets. That way, if somebody pees, then it doesn't hit the mattress.  Works like a charm.

no it is for SIDS prevention, although DD is now 21/2 so it is more for pee protection, actually also for toxic off-gassing.

We don't wrap our bed, but to make it more comfortable, how about a wool layer covered with a cotton mattress pad under the sheet? That's what we use on our futon, and it's very comfy. The wool layer could be a wool bed topper, or just felted wool blankets from Goodwill. 100% cotton mattress pads are hard to find, but they last forever and are worth the price.

Snanna. Where did you get your cotton pad? They are hard to find and $$!

I got ours at soaring heart futon in seattle-- they do sell online as well-- and it was around $90 for a queen at that time. My parents have an identical one they have used for more than 20 years, so I decided it was a good investment.
