What is "normal" poop for a 6 month old?

I'm obsessed with poop....in part because my LO doesn't poop frequently (i.e. every 7 days) and is uncomfortable in the 1-2 days leading up to the big event.  The last few weeks his poops have been more adult-like (i.e. solid, but still soft) than breast milk-like (i.e. loose, seedy).

Is this normal?  Will giving up dairy, which helped for other mamas responding to my earlier poop question, help?

DS is just 7 mos and his poop is sort of a peanut butter consistency. It depends on how much and what solid food he ate the day before. We started giving him foods about a week before the 6 mo mark. However, he does poop daily... I hope you can get your LO more comfortable!

Are you just breastfed or do you do a mix of breastmilk and something else? (formula, fruit, etc.)? My little ones both pooped daily at that age, and although it wasn't the totally runny newborn poop, it was still pretty squishy, like the consistency of thick soup or pudding. But I've hard that introducing other foods can make babies irregular. You might try a little probiotics. I gave my little one some of the powdered kind (just dipped a finger in it then rubbed it on her gums) for a few weeks around that age and it seemed to ease her gas pains and help make things easier for her. Good luck. It is terrible to see them uncomfortable.
