Hurts when peeing

The thread below is making me feel bad because we are having a problem. Oh well.

My son (almost 4) says that "it hurts when I go peepee." the very tip of the foreskin is angry red. It is often red and seems stretched out - unlike my baby who looks just normal.

Anyhow, I'm worried about what advice we're going to get at the doc. I want to get any infection cleared up, but I hear such conflicting advice about hygiene. Everyone here says to leave it alone - but leaving it alone got us here. What did we do wrong? How can I help my boy???

Retracting to clean is only needed after puberty hits before that the boy can do it to learn how but it is not needed for hygiene.

Burning while urinating is often a sign separation is happening and it can often cause some irritation. Dab some OTC bacatracin on the tip to help him heal faster and it can help with the pain as well.
