Only 1 day slippery mucus...

I seem to be having only 1 day of slippery mucus each month - usually right on day 11.  And I usually only notice it once that day - not in huge amounts or anything.  We've been trying for about 6 months now - I'm 38 and had my last babe about 6 years ago.  Do you think that having only one day of the slippery mucus could be a problem, or is over 6 months of trying not that unusual at my age?  Should I try pre-seed lubricant or anything like that?

Thanks!

Try taking Mucinex. (the plain stuff, not the kind with other drugs). It will help give you more fertile mucus which could increase your chances. Stop taking it after you ovulate though.

You may want to consider getting checked out as well. I think the guidelines is 6 months of trying when over 35 you should see a doctor just to make sure everything looks ok.

Hi Kel, some women do not get EW very often, but have several days of creamy.  Are you getting creamy at all?  Or just sticky, one day of EW and back to dry?

There are several things you can do to increase your fertile CF.  As the pp mentioned you can try expectorants containing guaifenesin  which is the active ingredient in Robitussin.  Just be sure to pick up one without all the extra, added ingredients for colds.  If medication does not appeal to you there are other things you can do, too.  Here is a site with some ideas: http://www.babyhopes.com/articles/vitamins-cervical-mucus.html   Typically taking a look at your diet and making improvements where you can helps with everything fertility related.  Are you taking a prenatal vitamin?  Getting enough calcium, magnesium, and omega-3's?  Stuff like that.

The average time for conception varies greatly for women over the age of 35, but I've seen it most quote at 1-2 years.  There is certainly no harm in getting a check up, but after 35 TTC can be a long journey and not indicative of any problem other than being older.

Thanks - I think I'm going to try FertileCM - sounds like it works pretty well for a lot of women.  I do eat well and take a prenatal...  I figure it might take a while no matter what at this point.  Thanks for the responses!  xo

Oh, and it's not a lot any day - but mostly creamy I guess.
