Need Midwife Recs in East Texas!

Thread Starter

Hi everyone!

I've been perusing the archives, but haven't turned up as much as I would like. I would love to hear anyone's recs for midwifes in the East Texas area. I live in Shreveport--but of course will drive as far as Tyler if need be. Please share your experiences! Message me privately if necessary.

Thanks in advance!

I have not had a baby in East TX, but I am familiar with some of the midwives in the area.  I know the most about Vicky Wells in Tyler.  She has a busy birth center practice (homebirths, too, but probably not in LA).  There is a second, newly certified midwife in her office who acts as her assistant and backup.  They are friendly and have many repeat clients.

Thalia Hufton is the other Tyler midwife.  I have met her but not spoken with any of her clients.  She also has a busy birth center and has been in practice for decades.

Charlotte Russell is in Marshall, which might be more convenient as far as distance is concerned.  I believed she went through the ATM education program when Vicky did and has been in practice since 2006.  I don't know what her client load is like, but she does have a birth center.  I have only met her assistant, Jennifer, who has such a golden heart for natural birth.

Anyway, there's nothing too specific in there, but feel free PM me with any direct questions you have.  I believe there is a healthy natural childbirth community in East TX, it just takes some driving to get to!
