Not legal.

 

You can have a nurse midwife license, but not a certified professional midwife license.

Midwifery laws in Illinois are the pits. Only CNMs are "allowed" to practice. There are ways to get around this, however, if you are interested.

I am looking for a midwife to attend my 2nd childs birth, I live in Southern IL.  Does anyone know how to get in contact with any practicing midwives who will attend IL homebirths?
