My six y/o wears glasses and he started wearing them when he was almost 5. Try not to worry until you get the eye doctor's opinion.

In our case, it was genetic dh has it and mil has it. We were pleased to find out that ds's case is very mild, he has 20/20 vision in both eyes, he has depth perception, he just needs glasses so his eyes don't strain too much when he focuses on something up close. Dh had to have surgery at a young age, so we were happy ds's case is not bad. He likes to wear his glasses and his friends at school thought they were cool (some of them even said they want glasses too). Ds got to pick the frame and he chose a blue one. He plays sports and there are several kids wearing glasses.
