Why is it potty learning and that stubborn streak are simultaneous?

I feel like a broken record reminding my three year old to use the potty.  He was largely potty trained, and then regressed with some medical complications.  Now that those are more under control, it's well beyond time to get back to using the potty.  So I have him wandering around pantsless and somehow he's managed not to pee since getting up.  

*sigh*

I'm actually not making a big deal of it to him, and I'm trying to make it stress free but GOODNESS!  If I could find the magic wand to make it instant it would be so much better.
