DD's having her first sleepover. She's fine, I'm a wreck!

So my DD is four, almost five (still SO young!) and tomorrow she's having a sleepover with her best friend.  I am dreading it!  She is so excited, though, and the girls have been begging for it for months.  We play over at this little girl's house all the time, so DD is really comfortable there, and I trust the family completely. They live all of five minutes away and the mother promised she would call if DD was nervous at all. I know it will be fine.  But I'm tearing up at the thought of her sleeping somewhere else!  I won't be able to tiptoe in and give her kisses while she's sleeping or cuddle with her in bed in the morning.  What am I going to do???  :(

Sit back in a comfy chair with a good book or movie and have a few glasses of wine.  ;)

No, seriously (though you shouldn't ignore the above advice!) I understand mama.  I remember when dd went on her first sleepover I was so nervous/sad/unready/etc - even though, like you, I knew the other family v. v. well and was completely comfortable with them, as was she.  FWIW my dd had a GREAT time.  No problems.  That first sleepover was a bit tough for me, but once we were through it and it went so well I will admit that I thoroughly enjoyed the next one!  And even better is now that ds is also old enough for sleep-overs and I sometimes (albeit v. rarely) have completely kid-free nights.

You will be ok mama.  Your dd will be ok.  I promise.  (((hugs)))

Thank you so much for the reassurance!!  I really needed it.  She's there now, having the time of her life.  The mom has been emailing me photos all evening.  I think she could see I was close to tears when I left, though DD was having so much fun she just gave me a quick hug then ran off to play.  I'm sitting here now with a glass of wine (one, very small, in case I need to go pick her up!) and trying to relax.

I can't wait till morning!
