Tearing up the house? Homebirth question

i am considering homebirth for baby number two and I am trying to figure out the logistics of everything involved. My first baby was a natural birth with a midwife in the hospital. One of my clearest memories from that experience was coping with the pain. I was on my knees on a hospital bed trying to tear the mattress with my teeth, rip the bars off the sides and beat this poor bed to a pulp. I did not break the bed, but I did tear the sheets... Possibly part of the mattress too.
I'm such a laid back, easygoing person so this is hysterical in hindsight.

So for anyone who has birthed at home:
Did you have anything on hand that would take abuse during labor? Did you break anything?
Any suggestions on how not to destroy your house?
( I am worried for my towel bar already)

We have a microsuede padded headboard bolted to the bed frame. I loosened it alot. Didn't actually break it though.

Last time we had a pull up bar that my hushand uses and I found stretching and "hanging" (my feet were on the ground of course) helped a lot.  It also helped to get the baby very low, almost to crowning.  This time I am using the bar again, but will attach a thick soft rope to it, maybe with a couple knots.  I will have more positions available to me with this plan (like sitting on the yoga ball). 

Of course the great thing about being at home is you have endless options.
