how much time does your DH/DP spend with LO? - Page 2
Dusty spends lots of time with him, but we're both home most of the time. Charlie even shows a preference for him at times - when he's really upset but not hungry or really gassy. He falls asleep easily when daddy's walking him and then sleep cuddled up a lot. Less frequently now, but constantly at first.
This is pretty much how DH feels. DD2 is pretty much all my responsibility most days. He holds her so I can take a shower, but besides that, if she's awake, she wants me. He is a huge help with the older two though. Takes them out to play, puts them to bed...basically does all the stuff I have a hard time doing whilst boobing a baby.
He spends as much time with him as he can manage. We are both taking 5 college classes. Mine are all online and his are all on campus. When he's home he is taking care of our DD or studying or cleaning. He is good about offering to hold Augustus so I can do whatever I need. Homework, cooking, showering, etc. He does all the nighttime parenting with DD and he tries to make sure she has a clean diaper and gets breakfast before he leaves for school so my life is easier. I should probably go tell him how much I appreciate him.
Agreed- my DH has really been doing a lot lately. In retrospect, he was exhausted from work and parenting on the night I started this thread. I think I have pretty high expectations - we are in this together- and I think we take turns feeling sorry for ourselves and comparing who does more - NOT a good place to go!!!!!!
Nald - Totally normal to have feelings of anger and jealousy and whatnot. It's hard to juggle. We're all in that boat with you, so don't beat yourself up.
AFUs, DH spends quite a bit of time holding and handling Finn, especially on the weekends. During the week he'll come down and keep an eye and ear on both kids while I shower. He watches them so I can go out for an hour, too. It helps he works from home. He totally baby wrangles whenever I ask him to, there's never any issues. As long as Finn is fed, he'll do whatever else needs to get done -- though sometimes he misses a wet diaper or something, he does a lot of work with the baby. I'm happy. He wasn't this hands on the first time.
