Midwife or OB in Ada or Canyon Co, Idaho?

Does anyone have any referrals for birth-friendly professionals in Ada or Canyon County in Idaho? I'm currently seeing one of the two midwives at a certain practice near St. Al's (not sure if I can mention her name). I saw her for my first pregnancy and birth. I ended up w/ a C-section. I think it was a combination of factors (starting with Pitocin), but I don't believe my 6.5 pound baby caused CPD as the practice claimed. She is already talking about repeat C/section and clearly humoring my request for a VBAC. I can tell she has decided I will need surgery, end of story. I'm desperate for another CNM or OB who is genuinely VBAC-friendly and acts like birth is a natural process. I don't need another medwife.

I need to add this. I wanted a home birth or birthing center delivery. Unfortunately, stupid Idaho enacted a BMI-restriction law in 2010. I am 20 pounds too heavy to be the patient of a certified midwife or have a baby at home or a birthing center. Notice that restriction doesn't apply to CNMs? Grr. Anyway, a friend suggested I post at MDC, asking for recommendations for MDs/OBs or certified nurse midwives, since Idaho has left that as my only option--short of giving birth across the border in OR, which would be a logistical nightmare.

One provider on my "maybe" list is Juliet Hughes, OB, if anyone has experience with her.

Any information is appreciated. Thank you.

Yea.  I was happy that they passed that law but reeeealllly think they went overboard on some of the "compromises," including limiting women based on BMI. irked.gif

I've heard mixed reviews of Dr. Hughes, (some love her, some don't) so I can't be of much help.

Dr. Bryan Hodges has a reputation as the Male Midwife.  I've also heard excellent reviews of Dr. Suzanne Anstine (natural-birth friendly) and Dr. Monica Fealko.

I'll PM you with a couple of "don'ts."  winky.gif
