citric acid intolerance

Hello. We have been dealing with food intolerance issues with out DD for about 1.5 yrs now (she is just over 2).

We have found many foods that she is intolerant to, and we have realized that a common thing among many of her intolerences seem to be citric acid. Berries, tomatoes, citrus fruits, jams, almost all ready made foods, chesses, etc, etc.

Has anyone heard of this before?

Do you know/think she will out grow it?

Are there other things to look out for on food labels other than citric acid or lemon juice?

Her symptoms are:

red burning rash around her mouth and on her hands and arms (or wherever the food touches her)

bad sleep

diaper rash and now very red vulva and anus (now that she is diaper free)

gas

smelly poop

crabbiness

red rings under her eyes

itchy ears and sneezing

Some of this may be other allergies and intolerances.

Thanks.

commercial citric acid is made out of corn most of the time. How is she with regular corn? My DD2 couldn't have corn, and couldn't tolerate citric acid either. But she could eat things like citrus.

She seems OK with corn. But we can't be positive because she hasn't really had it much. She has had corn on the cob a few times this summer. She doesn't rash up right away like she does with citric acid or citrus fruit. But she could have a delayed reaction because she is reacting to some things that we are still unsure of the cause. But that comes out more as a redness over her vulva and red rings under her eyes.

But with citrus or citric acid she has an immediate reaction of a burning red rash wherever it touches her on her face, chin, hands, arms, etc.
