Gaia Midwives on Long Island.

Hello Ladies, I'm having a hard time finding reviews for Gaia Midwifery so I thought I would ask here. Or I should say I can find a ton of reviews for Dale Cook but not so many for her associates.

I am due in late February/early March and am planning a VBAC. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with Julie from Gaia and/or delivering at NUMC.

Any opinions would be great and helpful. I really like my OB but she can't do VBACs where she delivers and I do not want another CS.

Thanks!

I'm currently 35 weeks pregnant and am using Gaia midwives. I'm in Nassau county, so I'm going to the Malverne office. Julie is in Suffolk, but I've met her twice at the hospital tour, and from what I could tell I like her and would recommend her.

This is my first, and will be delivering at NUMC. It's isn't the "prettiest" hospital, but it has the best/lowest c-section rates on all of Long Island.

Good luck and congrats on your pregnancy!!

Thanks! I went to the hospital tour this past Sunday and called Julie Monday to set up appointments. I agree about the hospital but they seem so supportive. And everyone we passed said hello to the m/ws and that's a very good thing. I'm happy with my choice.

I was seeing Susan Brockman at gaia for a little bit.  I though she was fabulous!  I have met Dale on a number of occasions and my friend used her twice and loved her.  I really liked her too.

I have never met Julie but heard great things about her!

I am also due in early March!

I highly recommend not going with Julie Toner of Gaia MIdwives.. Terrible experience.. unorganized... lost paperwork...  not professional .. I had a high risk pregnancy preclampsia and helpp syndrome... lucky for her I was her first she was totally unprepared. Did not show up to the hostipal for almost two days when I had an emergency - c section. She did not send a back up midwife, many midwives who i talked to and also the nurses  were shocked that she didn't send someone explain what was going on with my pregnancy..... The one great thing she did was refer me to a high risk doctor, which ultimately saved my life.... but what i don't get still is the fact I still had to go through her for everything. It was a nightmare.... do yourself a favor and work with a doctor that works with a midwife... Please I wouldn't want to put anyone though what I went through...Please email me if you have any questions...

I have to add that NCMC were so helpful though everything.... they saved my life.. and my doula .. Vicky Moody ( amazing if you are looking for one)  replaced what Julie should have done for me which was being there for me...
