Anyone have teens headed off to Not Back to School Camp? My son and his girlfriend leave tomorrow. Her sister got there today because she has a worktrade and had to be there early. They're all so excited!

Ds was supposed to go, but our income was cut in half with no warning and now we can't afford to get him out there. =/ He was really looking forward to it. This would be his first year, and we will likely be out of the country for good before next summer. A lot of the campers we had connected with have had to cancel at the last minute because of the extra travel costs that were created by changing locations. I imagine it will still be a great week, but with a different vibe than most years because of the low attendance and last minute changes. More intimate and personal, perhaps?

That's a bummer! We were lucky that my son got a worktrade this year. Driving to Vermont or driving to New Hampshire makes no difference for us because we live in Rhode Island. This is his first year, too. Because of the way his birthday falls, he'll only be able to go for one more year before he ages out.

I'm sure he'll love it and be excited to go back next year. =) Mine is just barely old enough for the last session. He turns 13 on thursday. We were going to drive him from AZ because it is actually cheaper than flying him. The car gets great mileage, and no airlines will get him all the way there without an adult companion. We were going to make it a whole family vacation thing and visit friends all along the way and stay with friends out there for the week and such. Instead, his aunt and uncle are flying him out to california for a week on his own. The airlines WILL let him go that far on his own. ;) It will be a grand adventure, and a much more affordable one than NBTSC. lol
