What kind of booster for 5.5 y.o., 50 lb DS?

DS just about still fits in his Britax Marathon although it's getting tight, so I'm thinking about which seat to get him next.  At this age, do I bother to get him a 5 pt harness or go straight to a regular booster seat?  He is tallish for his age, average to learn build, if this matters.  I have a Honda CRV.

what kind of carseat does he have now and do u think u just need a bigger seat or does he hate being in the seat? I know of some good carsearts at babysrus, please respond

Where are his shoulders in relation to the top strap slots?  If his shoulders are above the slots, he has outgrown the seat and needs a new one.

Do you think he's ready to ride in a belt-positioning booster?  Many 5.5yos are, and it is a safe and appropriate choice for a child with the physical and developmental maturity to use the booster properly.  If he is, you could look at the Graco Turbobooster, Recaro Vivo or Probooster, Sunshine Kids (Diono) Monterey, and Britax Parkway SG/SGL.

If you think he needs to remain harnessed, you can get the Graco Nautilus or Argos, or Britax Frontier85.  These will give him several more years in the harness and convert to good boosters when you think he's ready.

Thanks so much for the replies!  We just adjusted the shoulder straps to the highest slot and his shoulders are maybe a 1/2 inch below, so he hasn't actually outgrown the seat yet.  I'm not sure how I feel about harnessed vs.belt positioning booster... I think he may not be quite ready for the belt positioning booster.  But by the time he outgrows the Marathon, who knows?  We have a few months or more to decide.  It helps to see some good options listed, so thank you chickabiddy for that!
