starling, I'm so sorry about your fingers. That sounds incredibly painful. I've had some bad swelling in my feet and thinking of how painful that is, in a part that does not flex nearly as much as fingers, just makes me cringe for you. I hope you get some relief soon.
lifeguard, that is too, too lovely. What a sweet boy you are raising.
theboysmama, I hope you can get enough information to help your DH feel more at ease. Do you think this is him dealing with your previous losses? I could see how that would come to the fore as you get closer to the birth of this babe.
siblings: DS and I were making a carrot-zucchini-apple cake yesterday after school to put in the freezer for after the babe arrives (thanks to emmaegbert for the idea!) and at one point he said was excited about the baby getting here, "because I want someone to play with me when you and Daddy are working." Gulp. We've really tried to impress on him that the baby won't be much fun for the first while, at least, but I'm not sure that has sunk in yet.
contractions: We went for a family bike ride this afternoon as it was likely our last chance for quite a while. It's supposed to rain tomorrow and then we're into induction date next weekend. It was so beautiful and wonderful, but wow, Braxton-Hicks while riding a bike on a bumpy surface are not fun. I had trouble keeping up with DH and DS today, which was a blow to my ego.
We did a ride that we do regularly in a nature area near us. We've been taking belly shots there since the spring, so it was fun to get one last one today. They are too location-specific to post on a public forum (we've been taking them with me standing in the same spot, belly growing towards a very obvious and recognizable landmark), but it's so neat to see the progression from spring to fall and from barely visible bump to enormous belly!
