i've been trying to give my 14mo dd vitamin d supplement to help with tooth issues, but it seems like it gives her insomnia. it's exactly the same as she gets if i have cafiene in the afternoon, like she just can't stay asleep even though she's tired. i've tried three different brands/formulations but it is always the same. at first i thought it was caused by teething or something, but i'm seeing now that the only common factor on sleepless nights is that she's had the vitamin d during the day. has anyone else noticed this before? is vitamin d similar to b vitamins in that it makes you alert? anything i can do to counteract whatever is keeping her up? i can't stop the vitamin d because she is deficient and getting cavities so it is a must, but if she keeps being awake 2-5am every night i will go insane. any thoughts at all would be appreciated.

Maybe she is sensitive to the other ingredients in the vitamin d. For instance carlson's vitamin d3 drops are in coconut oil and another one I know of is in sesame oil, and another in flax and olive oil. I can't see how it would be energizing itself, D3. I currently take one that is in olive oil because my dd is not sensitive to it. The only ingredient is olive oil and the d3.
I would not stop giving her vitamin d, but find one that works for her with the less ingredients the better. I think it is very important for many things including teeth.
