Today I tie dyed a big batch of second hand baby blankets and onesies that had some stains on them. They're sitting right now and tomorrow after my daughter goes to school I'll rinse them out and see what I came up with. :D I've missed tie dying. ;D

I love tie dying! We all wear lots of it too!

Sara, as soon as they're rinsed and washed and washed and rinsed and dried. :P

Right now, I have a pile of wrapped up, covered in plastic hunks of fabric. I've been on a roll today. I did my tie dying and I made my daughter's new visual schedule. Now I'm making paper birds and owls for a giant mobile.

I seem to have a little bit of pregnancy induced carpal tunnel. In December I was trying to paint something small and my fingers kept falling asleep. Sewing did it too. On one hand (so to speak) I miss having a bunch of projects going but on the other it is nice to be off the hook. I'm enjoying seeing everyone else's craftiness.

Persephassa, I used a tie dye kit from Walmart, but if we do end up doing a bunch of our diapers and clothes for the kiddos, we're going to buy a large kit from the Dharma Trading company.

We were looking up diapers on Ebay, and found people selling tie dyed diapers for $10 a piece!! Then I realized it's been years since I've tie dyed anything. :D

Posting a link to my blog to show off what I have been making. I am also creating free patterns to go with everything too. There is already a free cocoon pattern up.  http://namastemama.blogspot.com/

Me too! It's the only spiral one I got that came out absolutely perfect! I keep telling DH we're going to have a really colorful son. :D

our boy is super colorful! Normally with lots of patterns on too (I've been shopping for baby clothes since we started trying for him and only seem to buy patterned stuff....oops). We all really like colors and tie dye, so it works out! Plus babies look good in anything!

I love to tie dye. I have all these prefolds but I am not sure about urine and dyes reaction together.

What do you all think?

Urea is a dye fixative used in tie dye, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks Cristeen...I think I may be dyeing soon!

With the last baby I was so busy with school and all that she didn't get anything of her own handmade ( though I have super cutie pics of her wearing the things I made for sis). So with this one, now that I am done with school and work, i am planning to knit up a storm. I have some projects in mind, but I haven't gotten started yet. I am also yearning to do some fun things in my son's room to incorporate baby. We don't know if baby is a he or a she, but big brother is very excited to have the little one in his room for a while at least. So I am really excited to get to do some fun things in there- boy or girl, I get to have some fun with those colors for a while, since my big girl's taste ( lots of pink, turquoise, feather, and sparkles) has dominated our girl room decorations for her and little sis, I am excited for my big guy and I to have fun doing something cretive for the baby with his tastes in mind. We want to make a hot airballoon mobile together, for example, to go with his science/explorer interests. Fun fun fun.

latest projects...

my brother got me this bolga basket & rocker for my birthday (like the ones people use for farmer's market, but for a baby). it doesn't quite fit in the rocker properly, but i can fix the rocker pretty easily once i feel like it. the basket came all smooshed so i had to wet it down and reshape it. we're going to put this next to the bed--even if we end up not using it much, it's so pretty and can be repurposed later (toys, craft stuff, whatever).

i made a mattress for it--wool batting, layered, covered with muslin, bound & tied.

i have some PUL and some cutey-fabric with rabbits to make a waterproof cover and another fitted sheet. this one is just blue... i dunno about making a bumper for it--i have enough stuff to do it but i am not sure i need one? i guess i could always decide on that later.

quilt #2 (holding it upside down, lol). flannel pieced in a log cabin pattern... the back is green dot minky. the flannel prints have clouds, birds, dots, elephants, and giraffes. i wish i was better at the actual quilting part--i have a walking foot--maybe it would be easier to do it freehand?
