Osteoarthritis?!?!

So I've been having some knee issues for the past few months.   After hobbling around for weeks and having some major swelling, DH made me go see a doc.  Who dx me w/osteoarthritis.

He wrote me a script for naproxin, which I have taken before.  Ironically b/c I had an injury to the OTHER knee.

So I'm researching this condition.   I'm 33 and have 3 kids and I need to be able to move my knee.  lol    What are somethings you have done to gain motion and reduce pain.  I'm not big into pain meds, and don't even like to take advil/pain relievers for headaches.   heck, I gave birth 3 times w/no meds, so a little knee pain is no biggie.   Only problem w/that thinking is that well it's freaking annoying.   At least w/birth the pain was worth the outcome.   lol   I can't kneel, bend my knee much, walk normally, sit comfortably while playing w/the kiddos or even chase them when needed.  My 18 mo is fast and fearless.

I was in a big hurry at the dr's office after being there over an hour with above mentioned 18 mo old who was missing her nap.  I had to leave to pick up ODD at school, so I didn't get time to chat much w/the Dr.    I got the rx and had to leave.

So do you have it?  Is it going to get worse?  I have pretty strong legs, so he did say that it's not due to weak muscles.   Overuse.  What are somethings you have done that have helped?

TIA!

I was recently diagnosed w/ oa too, after three years of back pain.  I had an xray and an mri.  Sorry I can't help with the knee part.  I am very depressed by this diagnosis bc there doesn't seem to be a cure, only management.  I'm currently looking into alternative treatments.  It's very interesting.
