dairy free butter substitute

Thread Starter

DS (8 weeks) has had some pretty decent reflux, so I decided to try dairy free to see if that would help. Fortunately, it has completely eliminated his issues. I'm fine without, for the most part, although I am missing it terribly. I can do without or substitute for most things, but I'm dying for my butter. At some point I'll add some butter back in and see if I can have it without starting back his issues. In the meantime, any ideas on a decent, healthy substitute? I'm looking mostly for something to put on toast, sandwiches, things like that. Thanks!

I like the earth balance buttery spread. Not exactly TF, lol, but you might like it. It tastes and acts like butter.

^ Yeah that. If you really need something buttery to spread on toast or whatever, Earth Balance works pretty well. I don't eat it all that often, but sometimes coconut or olive oil just will not do, you know?

Coconut butter??

Ghee tastes ok when melted on toast, but if you spread it on something when it's not melted - blech!

Best Life buttery spread.

I really like it, but only as a butter for toast not cooking/baking or anything like that (expect for butter on baked potatoes and stuff to add a little flavor)

There are coupons pretty often.

I currently use Fleishman's unsalted- it's completely dairy-free.  It seems to work pretty well in place of butter (but not in buttercream icing- that was a total fail)
