BF Moms & Babies needed for AAP workshops in Boston
Hello! I am one of two pediatricians/IBCLCs running two Breastfeeding Workshops for pediatricians at the American Academy of Pediatrics,National Conference & Exhibition, to be held at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center.
Dr. Joan Meek, author of "New Mother's Guide to Breastfeeding" and I will be hosting the workshops.
In brief, the sessions are usually ~50-60 physicians (mostly pediatricians), we lead the session and cover BF basics, let moms share some of their BF stories, and allow the audience to ask questions. We would love for moms to be comfortable allowing their infants to breastfeed, to allow a brief view at a latch if attendees desire.
We reimburse parking, attendance is available at the convention to any general open sessions that day, and we provide a $50 honoraria.
The sessions are as follows:
- Sunday, October 16th 4:00-5:30 PM: "What You Always Wanted to Know About Breastfeeding" (Basic Breastfeeding Clinical Support Skills Workshop) designed for practicing pediatricians. We are looking for 3 families: ideally a relatively young baby (<1month), a 2-6 month old, and a >6 month old.
- Tuesday, October 18th from 8:30-10:00AM: "You Too Can Be A Breastfeeding Guru!" (Advanced Breastfeeding Clinical Support Skills Workshop. Ideally, for this session we would like some challenges: babies with low muscle tone, cleft lip and/or palate, or multiples.
Please contact me by email at firstname.lastname@example.org with some brief info about you and your baby(s) and a phone number to reach to share more details about the conference.
You can view the entire AAP program at http://www.aapexperience.org/
This is the 11th year the interactive breastfeeding workshops have been part of the AAP NCE. Each year we have been invited back as the sessions are well attended and enjoyed by all.
Thanks for your interest!
