Not eating breakfast

Does anyone else struggle to eat breakfast? As a kid I used to wake up starving hungry and really enjoy my breakfast every day, but as a teen that stopped and I completely stopped eating any breakfast at all, this has continued to adulthood. However I would like to lose some weight and be healthier, and am always hearing about how breakfast is the most important meal of the day and kick starts the metabolism etc etc....so should I be eating breakfast? Is it important? I'm not a morning person and usually just have a mug of tea or glass of water/juice at breakfast time and I struggle with that some days, it's like my stomach needs time to wake up or something! then I have 'brunch' instead at 10.30-11am....anything before 10am seems far to early to be eating anything for me, I feel sick if I eat early or overly full and wish I hadn't, I'm not hungry at that time. Any advice if I should try to change it? Is anyone else like this and skip breakfast too?

I am the same way. I really don't want to eat until 10ish. Lately, I have been making these green smoothies from uncooking.com. All it is is a frozen banana, some frozen fruit, handful of spinach, soy milk, some ice and a little water and agave nectar. It's easy on the stomach and has been working well for me. I can usually get a bagel down as my other go to breakfast. There are plenty of days when i don't eat anything, but i do feel more energetic when i eat. In the summer, I eat late breakfast and am fine.So no real advice for you other than to find something easy and light and start there.

I've always had difficulty waking up in the morning.  My best sleep is *right* before I wake up.  15 extra minutes of sleep feels like an hour!  So I am really groggy in the morning and my appetite is groggy as well.  That's changed a little, but breakfast is not especially big either.  I've leaned toward protein for breakfast instead of carbs.  Usually plain yogurt with frozen marionberries on top.  I sprinkle on a little sugar and let the berries thaw halfway and then stir it all up.  Brrrr!  Makes me chilly!  But mmmmmm....mm!  And coffee, of course.  I've trained myself to eat a little breakfast because I was a professional gardener and would bottom out right away if i didn't cram down something.

Anyway, after a small breakfast I have a very large Second Breakfast, brunch, early lunch, whatever you want to call it.  Usually around 10:30.  That's when I'll eat until I am full and satisfied and let myself have a little ice cream or "naughty coffee" (the second cup, with cream and sugar, of course.)  Then I try to eat lightly for dinner, no dessert.  (That's for the weight management!)
