Seed Saver's Exchange is having a 50% off sale on the remaining 2011 seed stock. For those that aren't familiar with SSE, they're a seed house that focuses on preserving heirloom and heritage varieties (open pollinated; never GMO). They still have a nice selection left, and you can get a lot of deals for around $0.65 per packet.

This would be a great way to stock up on seeds for the budding gardener, or homeschooling nature projects.

Thanks!  It will be fun to put some seed packs in my dh's stocking, since he likes to garden.

Just wanted to add that the $10 free credit deal runs THRU Monday 11/28. AND they added new items today in new shops, so there are even more options for gift giving.

Thank you!

I think this may be my "extended family gift" ... and by extended I mean parents and brothers and grandparents. MMMmmmmm......

I was able to get to JoAnn's this weekend and bought almost everything I needed for the gifts I am making for $33.  I saved $52!!!  I felt like I was robbing the store.

I start buying gifts at the end of summer when I see something on sale really cheap that I know my kids will like. I buy art supplies for stocking stuffers at the $1 store. A few of my friends and I exchange homemade gifts every year. I love it because I feel special but it doesn't have to cost anything. We also exchange homemade ornaments for our trees.

Great ideas everyone! Less than 3 weeks to go!

I was doing pretty good staying on budget until my 4 year old son informed me that he really really wanted night vision.  I am indulgent- but frugal.  Target had it for $50 but Amazon had it for $23.  For $23 I can be a little indulgent.  I love  love love amazon.

Did anyone else's Bloomingdales M&D order get changed?  MIne was backordered- then part was cancelled.  I received the rest but was wondering if I was the only one this happened to?

^^^ They didn't put one of my items in the box and when I called they told me it was out of stock when I ordered.  So I sent feedback via their email system that they shouldn't offer to sell something if they don't have access to it.

We got our M&D order from Bloomingdales, but we got the big work bench and not the smaller boxed sets.

My kid's Godparents are frothing at the mouth for the fig preserves I made...just like my grandmother made(May she RIP). It is such a hit! I also say they must return the jar if the expect a refill of something next year. :)

Getting the jars back is the hardest part... most people don't know about canning etiquette anymore. :-) But getting more of your preserves should be sufficient motivation! Care to share the recipe?

the best is when they tell you they "recycled" the jar and hand you back the lid (with NO ring!! - because the also recycled that!!)

I have removed these people from my list-they don't get it and they DO NOT get the TIME I put into it!

That is so frustrating! I give people one shot - I'll ask for the jars back twice, educating them on return policy after the first time. If the jars don't return after that, they're out of the loop!

That is so frustrating! I always ask for the jar and ring back, but most people don't bother. Now if they give it back with their homemade preserves in it, I'm good with that. smile.gif

They have Hello Kitty, Angry Birds, Ben 10, Spiderman and some others. I can't remember all of them but the majority of them are under $5 with free shipping. I got mine in a little under a week and DD will love it. smile.gif

Another deal for the gardeners - Peaceful Valley seed packets are only $0.99 - that's more than half off!
