If you've decided on names, what are you going with? We are still undecided (and honestly, probably will be until we meet him) and I was looking for inspiration!

Right now we are thinking about Silas, but not sure on a middle name. The only other boy names we like are Jack and Asher, but we don't love them. If he does come out a she, she will probably be Nora.

Mom to blahblah.gifDD (5/07) and babyf.gifDS (02/10)h20homebirth.gif and someone new in November!

We've decided on Coralie Katherine.  My grandmother and my dh's grandmother are named Katherine (same spelling), so it's a good use of a family name.

I love Katherine! We would've probably used it as a middle name (spelled with a C) if this baby was a girl.

I'm pretty sure I'm gonna keep it as Grayson. At least I don't have to ask anyone's permission on a name. hehe

We're going with Greta June. My top choice was Veda and DH chose the middle name. But Veda was the one name he begged me not to use and Greta was my favorite when we had Owyn, but DH chose Owyn. So, I went with that. June is DH's aunt's middle name. She never had any children of her own, so he wanted honor her in some way.

If she happens to come out with a penis, the name would be Declan William.

Mallory. Happily married to Joe since 6/25/05. Loving my adventure with Owyn Samantha, born 3/1/09. dust.gif And expecting a new one in November! pos.gif

I like all of those! I would love to use Asher, or Ezra but DH doesn't like those.

For a girl we've decided on Ada (with my middle name, which is also my mom's middle name, for her middle name).

We can't decide on a boy at all!

We're naming our daughter Sora. It's Japanese for "sky" (hubby is 1/4 Japanese). It's also a type of bird, and I'm obsessed with birds, so we LOVE the meaning and sound of it! biggrinbounce.gif

We're still deciding on a middle name, though. Here is what we're deciding between:

Meadow

Molly

Lee or Leigh

Angelina

Lux

We just came up with Meadow the other day and I think it might be our top choice! I never thought we'd go with such a nature/earth sounding name, but Sora Meadow just sounds so pretty and zen. smile.gif

I think we're going to keep our middle name choice to ourselves until the baby arrives so we have one surprise to tell our families. They keep asking us about middle names but every time I mention one to them, it loses it's luster and people kind of ruin it for us if they don't like it. So I'm happy to keep mum now!

We are set on a first name - Rhiko (pronounced Rye-ko). Not 100% on the spelling right now, but that spelling is our current favorite. We have a list of about 20 ways to spell it!

As for middle names we've really got no idea. Our short list includes Alistair, Alric, and Nolan (after my grandfather who died several years ago), but nothing really jumps out as perfect to us, yet.

I do like the idea of keeping the middle name private until the little one arrives... I've already gotten so much flack for the 'weird' first name, so I'd like to avoid the grimaces with whatever middle name we pick.

Mal, I loooove Greta! Awesome name!

Our little guy is Jasper Conley. All of us were having brunch after the gender ultrasound and I started flipping through names. When I said Jasper, everyone loved it immediately. So it stuck! It's great that the girls had a part in naming him. Conley was my grandfather's name.

Jasper was a favorite boys name of mine for years! DH never liked it though. Apparently there's a power tool company or something with the same name. Not sure why that made him not like it, but it did. shrug.gif

Someone above said Silas. Another favorite of mine that DH never would go for! A good friend of mine actually asked me a while back if I was okay with her using it when they were naming their son. I asked DH if it was a name he could ever be swayed to use and he said No way, not ever. So, I gave my blessing for our friends to use it. Just last week, they were over with their Silas and DH turns to me and says "Silas is a pretty cool name!" I could have slapped him!! Of course it's only because now he knows someone with the name, but I was so annoyed!

I love peaceful, nature-y names too!  But for Sora, I like a one syllable middle name.  I personally wouldn't pick Lee or Leigh b/c they are SO popular, but Sora Lee does roll off the tongue nicely.  Sora Lux sounds a bit harsh to me... do you have any other one syllable contenders?

Nope. We went through a bazillion names. I liked a lot more one-syllable names too but hubby didn't like them. "Lynn" was another middle name we toyed with but again, it's so popular... Our last name is kinda long too, three syllables. We'll see what we end up with!

Loving all the names!

Our little guy is Atticus John Henry.  DH picked it and it keeps growing on me.  Atticus is from To Kill a Mockingbird, his favorite book.  John is for John Wayne, Johnny Cash and some family members and Henry is for Henry rifles and the song "John Henry".

DD would have been John Henry if she was a he.

Our other two also have two middle names so it's just a thing we do.

DH is Robert Garfield, the names go back quite a ways on his side so we kept it going.  DH and his brothers have very old fashioned and kind of southern middle names.  Vaughan, Dewey, Maynard, and Garfield.

I love John, it's so classic and goes with pretty much anything.

I agree with you on waiting until we meet the baby....I kinda wanna see his little face before we make it 100% official....plus it keeps us from having to hear people's opinions too much :)

So far the only name both my husband and I like it: Alexander Luca for now we refer to our baby boy as "Lele" its kinda a brazilian nick-name (I'm brazilian :)

I find myself very defensive though, I want him to be referred to by either, Alexander, Luca or Lele....not a big fan of Alex, Zander, etc.... But at the end of the day I want our son to have the name we like....regardless of what people will call him...I guess you can't really control that!

We are so far from deciding.

If it's a girl, my latest favourites are Una and Juniper. I really like Lilah, which was my grandmother's name, but it's just too common for hubs. I also have been liking Anneli and Kaisa.

For a boy, we were really set on Oren the first time around, but now we are going back and forth between Oren and Linus.

Either way, the baby will have two middle names, one from each side of the family, like big sister Mirabel.  We're going to wait until we meet this one before deciding.

I think we're going with Aria Sage for this little girls name. However I've had multiple people tell me that I look like I'm carrying a boy. And every single baby dream I've had has been with a boy. So who knows, ultrasounds can be wrong but I know I saw the 3 little lines on there! If it ended up being a boy, I do like Biblical names. Maybe Samson, Solomon or Josiah. But I would be using my husbands middle name (Zavala) because it's a unique family name we'd like to keep going.

I love all of the names you all have chosen smile.gif
post #43 of 45

We are still very, very stuck. Coming up with a 4th boy, family name is impossible. What do you all think of Jensen? My others are William, Christopher and Jack. I don't think it really goes but hubby loves it and I like it okay. We have very few options that we could be happy with. :( But we won't decide for sure until we see the kid's face.

Ugh... still no inspiration for a boy.  My dh is convinced that we'll break from our current pattern of A names and name a boy River or Leaf.  I dunno... I do like River, but I feel like it's more middle name material and Leaf?  Even though it's spelled differently I can't help but think that everyone will assume he's Nordic like Leif.  I'm not really feeling them.  I just keep thinking that a name will hit me over the head at some point, but it's been nearly 8 months and nada....

Eowyn Danielle "Danger" DH just agreed to Danielle instead of Danger on the birth certificate a couple days ago.  But we still call her Baby Danger.  Except for my four year old who thinks we are naming the baby Daniel.

Does anyone know if the name Autumn has a male counter part?  I know that technically the word itself is masculine, but it feels very much like a girl's name to me.  Is there a variant for boys?

I don't know of a specific male variant to Autumn, but I found some great seasonal name ideas that kind of make you think of the Fall season. http://nameberry.com/blog/autumn-names

I like the names Ash, Asher, and Auburn! Leaf, Linden, Rory, and Perry are also neat boy names w/ seasonal-ish connotations. They wouldn't necessarily make most people think of Fall when they hear the name, though, if that's what you're going for.

Thanks Joanie!  That was helpful to look at.  Nothing stuck out, but it did get my brain actually thinking creatively for once.  Auburn... could that be a boy's name?  It sounds feminine to me.  Dh will be happy that someone else likes Leaf!  lol.gif

I second the vote for Asher :)

Jaimee, I do not care for Leaf either. I just think of Leif Erickson. Asher was on my list until I saw some stupid tv show where this fancy rich New York couple was naming their son that because it sounded "powerful". Now, the name just makes me think of snobby people. lol.gif

Oh, we didn't have a name for dd2 until a week before she was born. It was ridiculous. Finally, I told exh to look through a list of 1,000 girl names and pick his top three. Then, I picked one from that.

Actually I was surprised to see on different websites that Auburn can be used for either a girl or boy. It does sound feminine to me too, though.

I'm just so particular with names.. they have to mean something personally to me/us.  Avalon has deep meaning for me and Austin was named after Austin, TX where I feel I really blossomed as a mother.  Dh has to just like how it sounds, for the most part, so coming up with something meaningful is largely up to me.  It just happened that they were both A names, ended in N and had 6 letters.  Totally unplanned.  Now this one... trying to come up with meaning, but now feeling constrained by the A.  AHHH!!!

So now I'm scouring sites for Autumn/harvest inspired names that might hit a chord in the meaning department- maybe from out time in Maryland where fall is gorgeous.  My head is filled with red and yellow leaves, maples, dandelion puffs, blowing leaves, crunchy leaves, sunny but crisp weather, Halloween, apple picking and pumpkin patches, corn mazes and hay rides....

I've googled a few sites and come up with:

Autumn
Auburn
Leaf
Asher
Aspen
Aurelia, Aurelian, Aurelius, Aurelio
Linden
Sienna
Willow
Cerelia
Rowan
Amber
Blaze
Forest
Hunter
Redd
Raven
Hazel
Sage
Birch
Alder
Saffron
Ashoun (means fall in Armenian)
Russell, Russett
Aster
Maple
Aston, Acton
Oakley
Hawthorne
Apple
Holly
Sequoia

I'm not really looking for a girl name, but I thought I'd throw them all in there.  So far, again, nothing is just jumping out at me.

We were going through possible girl names several weeks ago and DS (5) latched onto Evie (short for Evelyn) and has been calling the baby that ever since.  I don't think we will get away with naming her anything else. :)  That's okay, though, because DH and I really like it too and it just seems right.

With DS, we didn't want to name him until he was born, and he didn't actually have a name for a couple days.  I felt very strongly about meeting him first.  But I feel like I've already met this little girl.  She actually spent the day with me before she was even conceived.  It was the strangest, most wonderful experience.  A couple weeks earlier DH had agreed to possibly having another child, but he didn't want to talk about trying for a few months.  I was fine with that and said I would take the time to get in shape.  We didn't talk about it after that.  Then one day I felt this presence with me.  It felt like a joyful, happy little girl, and she stayed with me all day.  I felt like I was wrapped up in her and I was almost giddy!  I am not at all the type to sense presences or feel spirits or anything, so it was very new and amazing.  I didn't tell anyone because I thought it would sound kooky.  That night DH came home and said he was ready to start trying, all out of the blue.  She was conceived within the next few days. :)

So Evie will be the first name.  We have no idea for a middle name, but has to be 2 or 3 syllables.  Actually, a 3-syllable name would make a fantastic, musical anapest with her full first and last names...must start thinking.

Thought I'd pass this site along in case some of you haven't used it before!  It generates names based on names you like.

Jaimee - Another name I thought of that starts with an "A" and sounds really good with your other two kids' names is Avery. It doesn't have any seasonal meaning, though. But I thought I'd throw that out there in case you didn't pass over that name already. smile.gif

Thanks Joanie, but a friend's son is named Avery... it would seem like copying.  I had considered it briefly, though, b/c I agree, it does sound good with the other two!

Posted on the other thread.  Our girl will be Clea Bee.

Clea is from a Lawerence Durrell book, and similar to Cleo, which I like, but I think a little prettier. Bee is a combo of my aunt Linda Lee and DH's grandma Beverly who have both passed on. Plus, we both like bees.

Our son's name will be Conner Dean. Dean is my Dad's middle name. Conner is a name I've always loved.
