post partum pads

I had bought regular pads for my last birth and found I did not like them nearly as much as the ones I had gotten from the hospital. What are good pads to use for the post-partum bleeding? The ones one pharmacy had were extremely thick and not like the ones I had gotten after my hospital births. This is about the last thing on my to-do list!

I love my Lunapads. I have the postpartum kit plus a few heavy flow and regular flow. They are so soft! Night and day compared with disposables. I just give them a good rinse in the sink and toss them in with baby's diapers. If you order some, be sure to get extra liners. I find I don't need to change the pad itself very frequently.

I don't know where my mw got hers, but they were flat and wide.    I just bought some Kotex super long overnight ones and they aren't thick and bulky either, so they are pretty good.  I'm so out of the loop when it comes to feminine protection stuff.  I've had maybe 6 periods in the last 9 years and used a diva cup.  So take my info for what it is.   My fave thing to use right after birth....meaning the first couple of days are the disposable underwear, like depends.  That way I don't have to worry about bulk on sore parts or leaks, etc.

The depends were a lifesaver for me the first couple days. Every time I got out of bed and stood up, I leaked a bit of pee. It was nice not to have to worry.

I don't recommend any pads with the stay-dry layer on top. I was using my regular always pads after the heavy bleeding stopped, and they rubbed me raw.  We talked about that in the eczema down there thread.

Thanks for the tips! And the advice about the stay-dry layer is good...I do not EVER wear pads except for postpartum so I don't know all this stuff. How awful to have to deal with that after the birth!!
