Starting EC with very mobile 8m old

We would like to start EC with our very mobile 8m old daughter. She can crawl and stand and cruise. I know that for EC they need to spend some time naked, but I don't know how to do that without a huge mess? Anyone BTDT? Any suggestions?

We started with our first at 8 months, and she was pretty mobile. We didn't do much naked time, but we did lots of prefold-without-a-cover and that kept me vigilant enough for that phase. Later, when she was walking and more aware, we'd do more naked time-- she was able to walk herself to the potty pretty easily, and having no pants on made it easy. We have always had hardwood floors, though, so cleanup was easy too.

Snanna, thanks for the reply. I'm trying to figure out her cues, but am really having trouble with the diaper on. I've heard of keeping them in a pre fold without a cover, but I can't quite figure it out - how can you tell without holding them when they are going? But if you hold them how do you keep from getting wet/dirty yourself? And how do you keep them from constantly prying the snappi off? Would love to hear more details about how did it?
