Ugh that sucks about the colds. We aren't sick but I still spent half the night sleeping sitting up in the recliner and also needed a huge cup of coffee this am. I hear you on the super stiff neck. DH came into the shower with me and b/w a nice massage and the hot water it seems to have loosened up.
I would love another cup of coffee.
OMG. Nora just carried a spider over to me and won't let me put him outside. ICK. She says he's the itsy bitsy spider and he needs to stay inside the house to find his family! OMG OMG.
We do WBV, but primarily to continue building a relationship with our FNP; we're all seeing her, so the WBV are a good chance to catch up on all of us. While the milestone testing that goes on is somewhat pointless, we did have a minor medical issue with DS1 that we would not have detected without the NP. We do vax selectively on an extended schedule, and she's completely fine w/ it and even encourages it.
After a number of bad experiences, I couldn't imagine having a pedi or any doctor who questions my wishes and decisions as a patient and doesn't consider me a partner in my medical care (and that of my family). For anyone facing this, I hope you keep looking for a health care provider that fits your needs.
We're doing another Saturday w/o DH. I really struggle to keep both kids happy, and at this point we've all had a melt-down. Of course, now DS2 is napping and DS1 is happily playing by himself and integrating me sporadically, but as soon as the baby wakes up and goes back to the usual cluster-feeding ritual, DS1 will go back to needing constant entertainment, food, milk, hugs, etc. I hope DH will be done w/ his schoolwork very soon. I need a few minutes of me-time.
Coffee would be nice too. And so would lunch.

Sorry about the colds.
I'm getting the copper IUD put in on Monday, I'll let you know how it goes. I can't do hormones and we don't like barrier methods, so it's really our only option.
Cold here as well. So far it is just mostly DD2 who is my petri dish of germs. She is coughing nonstop, neither one of us got any sleep last night. I had to go to 3 pharmacies this morning to find one that could fill her script for cough syrup with codeine that I got while we were at the doc office the other day, thank goodness! We usually keep a bottle on hand for her, with her asthma, she coughs and coughs and coughs with a cold, this way is the only way she can get any sleep. The baby sneezed several times today and has been extra crabby today and yesterday so I think it is coming. Course that means we had to cancel our weekend plans. She missed her soccer game today, it was picture day and we were supposed to leave right after and drive up to my parent's house in the mountains.
Carrie, Yes, she is awesome! She had twins, nursed them for years, co-slept for years, promotes natural things over any meds always first. She only vaxs her own children for a couple things so she doesn't bat eye at non-vaxers.
Sorry about the colds..that does really suck.
I thought about getting an IUD but I'm scared to do it. My sister got one it was fine for two years and now she's having some problems. I think I'm gonna try the pill first and hopefully I can remember to take it. I started my first pp period today...yuck! One thing I didn't miss while pregnant. No suprise though, BFing never delayed it with DD either. I'm only 5 and half weeks out I was hoping it'd be a little bit longer.
Ohh Carrie I'd die if DD came to me with a spider lol. She'd never do that though she freaks out about bugs even flys.
Isn't the cooler weather wonderful???? I'm like why couldn't it be like this when I was pregnant?!?! The days here have been in the low 70's and then cooler at night...its been awesome! I can't wait til it gets a little cooler. I must admit I'm excited about buying both DD's a fall wardrobe lol. Although we've mostly got Ada's stuff already. Ohh and halloween costumes! I can't wait for halloween! I found the cutest cupcake costume for Ada!
More time later...I'm sorry for those who are dealing with colds. My 19 month old son has had a cold for a while now. It seemed to be going away, but then it got worse. He was having difficulty breathing yesterday, along with a fever. We took him to the ER. He was transferred to the other hospital in town with the better pediatric unit. The poor little guy has pneumonia. They kept him throughout the night and most of the day. We just got home. He's on antibiotics and we'll be giving him probiotics, as well. We'd already been giving him probiotics and plan to continue, but I was happy to hear the doctor and nurses at the hospital recommend it.
Anyhow, please keep DS1s healing in your thoughts and prayers, as well as Gabriel's good health. We're hoping he doesn't get sick, as well.
It's interesting to sit and research Natural Family Planning while nursing/holding a sleeping baby. Almost feels like, "Boy, don't want to do THIS again!" when it's really more of "I want him to get the time and attention he needs before having another - at a point that he'll be old enough that the new one can get the time and attention THEY need."
My belly hurts. The incision is healing again, but I'm having belly pain - especially with the weight of the baby on me. Someday this shall heal and I really hope for a VBAC!
What are people planning to do for Halloween? If you have older kids it seems to make perfect sense to dress them up, but with only one? Hm.

I was thinking about giving out candy. I might go over to the in laws for it, since I only know of 2 trick-or-treating age families in my area. Then again it is the middle of nowhere, I might make DH take me out instead. (Halloween is my favorite holiday, sucks that I can't really do much this year.)
Ugh, I hear you on not wanting to bother with NFP, too! I get so "ugh" thinking about temping and watching CM. But we are done with kids. I'm really, really thinking of talking to DH about a vasectomy. Previously we thought we weren't ready but I really think I am. And I think he is too. I think we are both just saying we aren't, b/c we aren't sure how sure the other is. But I'm sure.
re: halloween - with the first baby we just got a cute halloween onesie, took some pictures of "my first halloween" and gave out candy like usual. This year, Nora is still trying to figure out what she's going to be. I rarely dress up, I just do fun makeup and maybe an orange shirt or something to take her around. DH hates giving out candy. Maybe I'll switch and he can take Nora around and DS and I can give out candy. Hmm...
PL - Thoughts again are with you and your littles. I hope Gabriel doesn't catch it. Keep him on the bewb!!
Jill, you can keep those away from me any day. I'm not usually creeped out by dolls, but those do the trick.
Carrie, I was over in the life with babe forum, and read the "little boy parts". Liam had an erection the other day, and I asked DH about it and he said they didn't. Well, I was gonna ask you ladies (cause you're so non-judgemental about everything)but forgot until I saw that post. I read through and saw the erection part, and it made me laugh. I knew I couldn't be going crazy. DH just said it meant he was going to pee, 'cause the penis gets a bit harder before/during urination. Ha.

HA! Right?? I googled after I posted there and found this link:

We aren't crazy!!
"It is common for a baby boy to have an erection of his penis. He may have an erection during diaper changes, when breast feeding, or when you are washing him. He may also have an erection when his diaper rubs against his penis."
Boo-yah!

I'm sorry about the colds and especially in the baby. I'm so hoping Gabriel doesn't get it and can imagine how stressful that must be.

OMG The shower massage sounds amazing! I am so jealous! ... And would die if DS brought a spider to me. I would teach him about relocating the spider outdoors and explain that that's where its family lives. I HATE spiders!

for the Saturday alone with the kids. I have an especially hard time when DH has to do schoolwork on Saturdays--and he's still home to help if needed.

I hope your baby is not getting the cold. I heard Gabriel sneeze a few times several days ago, but so far he appears okay. Of course, now that DS1 has pneumonia, we'll be keeping an extra careful eye on the baby. You have more mama experience than me, though, but I get super, super nervous and am afraid that I may miss an important sign that babe is getting sick.
I hope your daughter feels better very soon.

It is interesting to research natural family planning while holding a teeny babe. LOL I just know that I really have my hands super duper full right now. I didn't get much of a break between these two little ones, and my body and mind need a break. I do want to eventually have another babe, though.
I hope your belly heals soon.
Regarding Halloween, we didn't do anything for DS1 last year and I doubt we'll do anything this year. DS really reacts to artificial ingredients (especially colors) in candy and I'm pretty sure DH won't want him to have any. Maybe next year we'll get together with some friends and have a Halloween Party that lots of kids are invited to, instead of trick or treating. Carrie mentioned Halloween Onesies and we have one for each babe.DS1 was also gifted a cute puppy outfit, so we may dress them up for pics this year. Also, I may bake cookies with DS1. This all makes me wish I lived closer to my family. All of my adult sisters have children and we could have a fabulously fun party with just the children in my family.

Regarding NFP, my sister mentioned to me (because I was complaining about having to take and record my temp every morning, as I'm forgetful by nature) that she would make it her DH's responsibility to take and record the temp and her responsibility to observe the mucus. I thought that might work. I mean, we should have equal responsibility in preventing pregnancy, right? But I haven't mentioned this to DH yet. Life has been moving way too fast for me lately that simple conversations can take a while to actually happen.
Thanks for the good thoughts for my babes' health. I heard a quote somewhere that being a mother is like forever having your heart outside your body (I'm totally butchering the quote, I know!) and I think that's so true.
AFM: I'm trying to catch some breaths. The past week+ has been so very difficult. DS1 has been sick. I've been sick and DH hasn't felt well, either. DS2 has been nursing around the clock. Then the time in the ER and having DS admitted into the hospital. My home is a WRECK, with so much having been left undone, chores abandoned for one crying babe or the other. And then, well, then we have 2 cats and in our frenzy to get out the door and get DS to the ER yesterday evening, we left the bathroom door closed and locked so neither cat could get to the litter box. I'm expecting to find some unpleasant surprises, although I haven't found any yet.
Jill, I love your decorations for Halloween! How creative with the dolls!
I didn't see Carrie's other post, but baby boys can absolutely have erections. My older DS will grab his penis during a diaper change and immediately get an erection.
Ada and I are almost over our first cold together. ![]()
Becky, I hope you heal soon. After having my VBAC, I can safely say I truly don't understand why someone would volunteer for a section over natural childbirth. Natural recovery is soooo much better.
Ada has taken a bottle a few times at home, so today we tried it with someone else without me being around. My MIL watched her while we put up a fence in the back yard. Unfortunately, she called me back in because they couldn't figure out the bottle and ended up spilling 3 ozs of milk.
I fixed a bottle myself and put it in the fridge. To make matters worse, it happened again later in the day! Another 3 oz of spilled milk! I will cry over that!
PL- Sorry to hear about your DS, hoping the baby doesn't get it. DD2 has had pneumonia too many times to count, it always does bite.
have I ever told you that I adore your boy's names? Gabriel is one of my favorite names (when my 2nd ended up being another girl, we named her Gabrielle, if only I would of known I was going to go on to have two boys after that!), I love Malachi and the combo is just amazing.
Becky- Yep, that's the perspective!
Jill- Those dolls are awesome!! I just might have to steal that idea someday when I have time.
Skye- Lots of erections from little boys in this house with diaper changes. The baby has only does it a couple times so far, my toddler often gets freaked out when he has one, almost if he doesn't know what to do about it.
Stormy- yuck on the MIL potential issues.
Janie- 3 ozs and then to spill again! WTF! I'm sorry.
I hate this early am wakings. Every single day around 4-5 am, DS2 wakes up and I have to go upstairs with him for a while before he'll go back to sleep. DD2 sleeps with me so I'm trying to avoid waking her up. M-F it means that I barely get back to bed and then I have to get for the day. On the weekend, I could sleep in a little bit. Yesterday since DD2 was sick and DD1 was gone, I got to sleep in until 9am! It was so nice.
Halloween. About about dressing up and getting candy here. We just go around our neighborhood. We didn't do anything when it was the first until she was old enough to go out. Trying to figure out costumes this week actually. DD2 is settled on a princess, DS1 is going to be a shark, I've got a pumpkin suit for DS2, and I think DD1 has settled on a witch. The problem being that she wants this one particular costume and I'm not sure if I want to fork over how much they want for it on something that I will only be worn by 1-2 kids for a couple of nights! Sewing is not something I am good at.
