This is part of pregnancy that I hate. I am done with the nausea and puking but I haven't felt my fundus and will be at the very least a week off from feeling the baby move. I will be 13 weeks tomorrow and I felt DD move at 14 weeks. I'm in that holding pattern of I'm feeling better.....am I still pregnant? Hopefully I'll feel it move early again so that my head won't move to a dark place. My next appointment is on the 10th, so hopefully I'll find out that everything is fine then. I have been wearing my maternity pants for a few weeks now. Mostly because I couldn't stand having anything touching my belly.

Amazing how bologna can sound so disgusting and so delicious at the same time.  Now off to raid the refrigerator.  eat.gif

I am really glad to see I am not the only one who isn't chugging green smoothies all day long!

I agree. I haven't been eating horribly but not perfect either. For me it's all about survival at this point.

Thomatuttle - I hear you! I feel like I am in a holding pattern too. Some days have been good but now they've gotten worse. I will be 13 weeks on Saturday and the first time I will be able to hear the heartbeat is next week Thursday. I've never waited thislong and I'm getting impatient. I think that I might make the doctor check that first thing instead of talking. I keep telling DH that there better be a baby in there.

Yesterday was pretty awful for me. I have a cold that's giving me a royal headache on top of the ms. I was able to nap with the kiddos for a couple of hours but felt even worse after. I could hardly move off the couch. Thankfully it was a day off of school so my 6 year old was able to do most of the running. I typically don't take anything for a headache because Tylenol doesn't work a lick. I decided to give it a try when I was at my worst and it worked in 30 minutes! I was so happy and shocked. It NEVER works for me. I was able to get dinner on teh table and function enough to bath the kids and cut DH's hair. I'd say that was progress. I woke up with another headache this morn and the Tylenol is doing it's job agian. It must be a different kind of headache. Thanks the Good Lord that it's working!

DH left this morning. He'll be back home next weekend. I'll be spending some time at my mom's this weekend but I fear for next week. I just hope that I feel well enough to keep it together. My house is hideous. I'm really tempted to call in my sisters to help me clean. I know that I'd be there in a flash for them. I'm the only mom in the family so they don't quite understand the lifestyle and it's demands yet.

Well, I'm off to see what I can actuallly get cleaned before I feel like crap again.

I'm so glad that I have all of you to "talk" to!

I am trying so hard not to indulge in all my cravings but it is really hard!! We normally do not eat fast food but last weekend we went to my Dad's which is 4 hours away and stopped at McDonald's. I had a double cheeseburger and fries and now that is all I can think about! Just writing about it is making my mouth water. I might have to give in today or tomorrow while my DD is at school. I don't want her getting used to eating fast food. lol!!  I am also in love with Mayo and Ranch Dressing. Why can't I crave carrots and celery (without Ranch)??? yummy.gif

adoremybabe-I could not imagine my DH being gone for a week. My DD is 11.5 and does not require much from me but the daily household stuff still has to be done. I will keep you in my thoughts!

I love two cheeseburgers and a small fry. DH HATES that I do this, but about once a month or so (even before pregnancy) I had the urge and indulged. He thinks it's absolutely disgusting, but bah, I figure once a month is fine. Otherwise we're pretty much a whole foods, proteins and veggies type family.

Except for today. Haha! I have spicy cheese grits baking in the oven! bag.gif

RosieL:  I'm coming over for lunch!

I hope everyone who's sick, or is headed that way, feels better soon.  I feel a cold coming on, too.  :(

Cravings:  Chicken McNuggets, a McDouble, and a large fry, please!!

If we had a Wendy's in my town, (I live in a small "just-off-the-expressway" farm town w/ McD's, Taco Bell, A&W, BK, and Arby's..and that's it!), I'd be in trouble!

I miss living down south for the barbecue, Chik-fil-a, Captain D's, & Krystal's.  I was craving a chicken biscuit this morning, but NO ONE here serves them at all!  They look at you like you are stupid.  McD's carried one for a while, but stopped b/c it wasn't popular enough to keep on the menu.  :(

There is an AWESOME taco truck here in town owned/run by a Mexican man named Tony, we do eat there occasionally, lol. His food is real mexican food, not the over-proccessed Taco Bell crap, and it is amazing!!!!

Honestly, we don't eat out a lot.  Lately it's been b/c I didn't feel like dealing w/ cooking, lol.  And even that isn't all that often.  DH has been home the past 2 weeks b/c of the rain, (construction) so he's been cooking and CLEANING, bless him!!  I love that man!!

Bela, glad things went well and very cool that everyone will be excited!

Flavorful how did your first appointment go?

bologna and miracle whip, blech.  bologna, cheese and mustard YUM.  My 2 year old wisely said bologna was "yucky!". lol.

rosie and Anna, I too like a fast food cheeseburger, fries and GASP a coke every now and then.  I'd be getting one now if I had money.

adoremybabe- good luck this weekend. It can be SO freaking hard with out DH. My husband spent almost a year working out of town for 1-3 week stretches and only home for a few days. I almost lost my mind, and I wasn't pregnant then!

thomatuttle I hear you on that funny time. I actually went in the other day to hear the heartbeat b/c of it.

I had my first appt today. My medicaid isn't done processing so they took blood but might have to throw it out and wait until the insurance finishes going through. SUCKY!  we did hear the heartbeat again, such a great sound, I laughed and then he/she started moving around and you could hear that on the doppler. I <3 my midwives. One of them is getting married this weekend so I will see them all in a couple of days.  Excited for her wedding. Oh and they say I am 14 weeks today, apparently my phone app is wrong.

Oh, how I hear you on the fast food and not cooking! I finally felt better enough from the onslaught of headaches (allergy season + no meds = unhappy mama-to-be!) for a couple hours to actually cook some things! I think it was the first time in a good 6 weeks that I've done anything like that. But we've been eating out all the time lately, and my interest definitely is tending towards the fast food/diner end of the spectrum. I haven't weighed myself in a bit, but I'm just hoping that I can carry on like this without worrying too much, because the super-healthy stuff just doesn't sound very good lately!

hey ladies! Been reading a lot.... but not posting much.

I'm also feeling like I'm at a standstill.... nausea is gone (lucky, I know) but the exhaustion is still in full force. I've been feeling fidget-ey and restless which is funny to add into the mix when you're exhausted LOL. Feeling extra blah because my grandpa passed away yesterday morning. I sure am sad.... but just as relieved he is no longer suffering..... cancer = Cuss.gif

I can definitely feel my fundus and have even felt some little flutters and movements - and some "awesome" sharp stretching pains.... yay. I swear I must be walking around the house like I'm already 8 months pg because DH keeps asking me if I'm okay eyesroll.gif

I would love to be making smoothies! The glass pitcher broke on the bottom so I just need to order the replacement. It was fabulous when I discovered this AFTER buying the frozen fruit for said smoothies. Now every time I open the freezer those fruits mock me!

favorite foods lately....

BLT on rye (with miracle whip)

cereal (life, golden grahams, corn chex)

pancakes with strawberries

huevos rancheros

arugula salad with strawberries, red onion and homemade balsamic honey vinaigrette

english muffin with butter AND peanut butter (or coconut oil and peanut butter)

Been craving....

red curry ANYTHING (steak and veggies with jasmine rice preferred)

baked potato with bacon, broccoli and cheese

fries and brown gravy (with or without mozzarella on the fries)

chicken fried steak (I've even had this before! but I NEED it)

Is anybody supplementing with Floradix yet? I haven't started yet but wonder if low iron is adding to my fatigue. I also believe that the thyroid replacement med I'm on can make you tired.... which is so awesome! I definitely needed something else adding to my exhaustion! nut.gif

Oh and I'm pretty sure my libido took off to siberia. Which is VERY unusual for me. With my last pg I was good to go nearly every day! Even through the first trimester.... my DH is feeling quite unloved. I'm usually good to go for it even if I'm not totally in the mood, things end up being quite fun.... but the last few times I did that I spent the entire time wishing he would just hurry up and finish or trying not to just screech on the brakes and roll over and go to sleep. I'm hoping it comes back soon so I can connect with my DH again.... right now I just feel gassy, tired and super sensitive to smells (breath and bo) so I've got a whole list of hurdles to get over before the prospect of enjoying myself.

alright, alright..... I've gone on long enough

hugs to all!

Cravings are so nice right now because I know if I eat what I am craving then I won't feel sick afterwards. With my 1st pregnancy all I could keep down most of the pregnancy was a Big Mac and fries. With this one, so far I have been craving McDonald's cheeseburgers (also, caramel apples, soft pretzels and peach tea).

Thursday Girl: I think even if I had a craving for bologna I wouldn't eat it. I think that might be where I would have to draw the line with the baby. Now a kosher hot dog is another story.

Thank you ladies for throwing my health eating in the toilet LOL I've been eating yogurt, fruit, pitas with turkey and cole slaw, that type of thing. I was all set to eat Grilled Cheese and Vegetarian Vegetable Soup for dinner...and just went out and bought a double cheeseburger and fries. I'll be coming after you ladies if I gain 100 lbs this pregnancy *giggle*. The really sad thing, is that I still want the dinner I was planning to eat, just later tonight. Guess my small appetite is gone :D

AnnaB77 - why don't you try making your own "ranch".  I make mine with 1/2 yoghurt, 1/2 homemade olive oil mayo (but you could go without the mayo no problem) and spices: fresh dill, parsley, powdered garlic and onion, salt and pepper.  So yummy.

All this fast food talk has be craving a double double from In & Out, protein style.  ummmmm....

momma2be_k - if you are craving chicken fried steak, why don't you do chicken fried beef liver.  I will be making it tonight (or at least instructing hubby on how to make it as I can't stand cooking meat but have no problem eating it) with grassfed beef liver, dredged in flour, then egg, then flour with tons of sauteed onions, gravy, and corn on the cob.  You will get a massive dose of iron and it tastes so good when you drown it in gravy and onions.

Yesterday was pretty brutal.  Our 11 yo dog died at home yesterday.  He came down with valley fever a few years ago and it almost killed him.  We managed to get him back up to the point where he loved his daily 4 mile walks then the bone cancer hit.  We didn't treat him but took almost a year for him to finally succumb, which is pretty amazing as bone cancer usually kills quickly.  I attribute it to the raw diet (no carbs to feed the cancer).  We were going to take him in that morning to the vet to be put down so carried him outside to go to the bathroom.  He did his business and then collapsed on the ground.  He was so anemic he had absolutely no energy.  We let him lay there for a minute to rest and then my husband picked him up like a little baby and started carrying him inside giving him a bear hug to comfort him.  He felt Austin relax slowly so held him tighter as he walked.  By the time he made it to patio where I was standing he had passed.  It was so amazingly perfect.  I think my husband holding him made him feel safe enough to just let go.

We had already been crying since the previous night knowing it was coming so we continued to bawl the rest of the day together.  We are feeling much better today.

It is amazing how much a part of our lives our pets become.  We don't have any kids so our pets take their place to the time being.

Nicmom, even when you do have kids it can be just as hard. We lost everything in our fire, but I never once mourned over a single item. The chickens I lost I cried over like a baby for days on end (they were free range and would follow you, eat out of your hand, etc; I even had one that was a bantam so was really small that lived inside in a diaper and would respond to me with a certain whistle...she survived initially and according to my SIL was calling me day and night for days before she succumbed to the long term damage of the smoke). It's still enough to make me cry. Go hug your DH, plant a special tree in honor of your lost friend, and mourn until you're ready to heal {{{HUGS}}}

zuzu - you just made me cry hug2.gif

Oh NicMom, I'm sorry, that is so hard.  It sounds like he had a peaceful passing, which is a great gift.  hug2.gif

I'm feeling a bit of my libido coming back finally, but DH and I are afraid to DTD.  After the ScH and ER visit, the ER doc said to "take it easy" which DH interpreted as "pelvic rest."  So that was a week ago, and the bleeding has subsided, but he's still nervous...maybe if we try to just stay away from my cervix?  Poor DH.  Last pg I was all over him.  Weird.

Thursday, glad your midwife appt went well!  Hearing that little swoosh swoosh is so magical. love.gif

Kim, so sorry about your grandpa.  I'm sure it is a relief to know he is not suffering anymore.  Was he very old?  Cancer is truly awful.

As for me, a lot less bleeding today, which is reassuring. Still no weight gain, and lots of meat cravings.  DH thinks I need to fry liver, so I might try it the way the PP suggested.  I've never cooked liver before, and the idea is sort of unpleasant, but it might be just what i need.  I was thinking about my "due date" and going overdue and what not--here's something weird.  At my last midwife appt, we calculated my EDD from O, which was 7/15.  She got 4/9.  Any way I do it, I get 4/6.  I know its only three days, but I can't figure out if she was being generous because they schedule RCS at 41 weeks, or if she just read the 6 upside down as a 9 on the little wheel.  Either way, I'm happy, because I'm not going to show up for a RCS under normal conditions, but the idea that she "gave me" a few extra days makes me happy.

I live in quebec in canada, home of poutine.  that is fries with gravy and cheese curds.  i can never resist.  besides that, foods i love are (aka pretty much the only foods that appeal to me):

frozen strawberries

canned pears

nachos with beans, veggies, cheese and sour cream

grilled cheese and tomato soup

oatmeal cookies

broth-based soups

craving:

beef stew

(but the idea of most meats simply disgusts me)

I haven't had any sickness at all, just a lot of nausea, but today i was almost sick on the bus due to the smell of mcdonalds... i'm impressed you guys are craving it!

as for my libido, either I want it or I REALLY, REALLY don't.

Nicmom--I'm so sorry about your dog. I hope you're being kind to yourself, it's a huge loss. I have panic attacks every so often when one of ours gets sick and I think about losing them.

Glad to hear there are at least some others out there interested in sexy time. I'm all about it! Unfortunately, my wife isn't. Something about the baby being there seems to have freaked her out. Hmpf.

NicMom - You made ME cry. I'm never allowed to talk about the possibility of our pups getting old in our house. DH says they will live together because they have to, or we will become blubbering idiots. :(

JustKate - DH said he wouldn't eat liver, so I never cooked it. But recently the local farm we get food from had a special on beef livers. I got some and…here's the secret…cooked it up with bacon and bacon fat. Lots of it. And lots of onion. He thought it was really yummy. I think bacon can curb the livery taste and helps with the introduction of it. Mmmm I <3 ms some liver. I'm saving up livers and fat from whole chickens, slowly, so I can make some chopped liver this winter. Yum!

tarabelle - I have a meat aversion at the moment as well. Went to dinner with my family at a steak place and ordered a cut that I would normally devour. I took two bites and packers the rest for home. I need to supply myself with protein every couple of hours or I feel terrible, but it's much easier to stomach cheese, daisy, nuts, and protein powder in a pinch. So strange.
