Is he weaning? Looking for some advice.

DS is 15 months old.

When he was about 11 months, he drastically cut back on nursing.  He went from about 7 times a day to 2-3 times a day which is where we have been ever since.  He 100% prefers solids to nursing, but he likes to nurse before a nap or bedtime.  In fact, he'll refuse nursing unless he is tired.

However, in the past few days he has been nursing less and less.  Tonight he nursed for about a minute then cuddled up with his stuffed dinosaur and went to sleep. (We cosleep so I nurse laying down in our bed.)

I am 11 weeks pregnant, but my supply has increased with pregnancy thus far and he doesn't seem displeased with any flavor changes (I heard this can happen).  He just really seems over it especially since he was refusing nursing and nursing a lot less pre-pregnancy.

My goal was to let him wean himself or nurse him until he was 2 or so.  Is he weaning or is this just a phase?  He literally nursed a total of 3-4 minutes all day today, and he sleeps through the night so this will be it.

I'm kind of sad at the idea that he could be done, but I am glad to see him find new ways to fall asleep.

This sounds pretty much like what DD did when she weaned. Her weaning process lasted between the 10-15 weeks of my pregnancy and eventually she just didnt ask for it anymore. I know it makes you feel sad, but if he is making the decision himself, I wouldnt try to stop it.

Babies don't self-wean at 15 mo. This is probably due to pregnancy, I've heard the milk changes its taste. I would encourage nursing, lots of skin-to-skin contact, co-sleeping and taking baths with him.

My son is 13 months and I worry that he's weaning as well. Like OP, he LOVES solids and really doesn't want to stop playing to nurse unless it's nap time or sleep. If I try to offer and he's feeling playful instead, he sometimes gets a little bitey. If not biting, he just laughs and rolls/crawls away. I planned to nurse him til 2 at least, but he seems so bored by nursing! Anyone with helpful experience on getting through this (if it's just phase?)
