well, while this isn't puppet show per se, i think it would be very adaptable to do reader's theatre.  your library ought to have a few books and there's a guy named Aaron Shepherd who has a ton of it free on his webpage, here

you'll have more luck googling things like "reader's theatre scripts" maybe.

eta: i love mary oliver & your quote btw

I can't imagine asking preschoolers to memorize puppet show dialogue. Instead I would engage them with a something like a fairy-tale story that they enjoy and can connect with, collaboratively retelling it to come to understand it, and then have them perform a puppet theatre version using their own dialog.

An adult can always do a bit of narration to keep the story moving from scene to scene. For instance, with the Tale of Chicken Little, a narrator could speak the little segué part that goes "So Chicken Little, Henny Penny and .... went a little further along until they came to the house of Goosey Loosey." And then let the kids at the next scene. And so on.

Unless you're aiming to give them memorization experience. But if your aim is to engage them in stories and theatre and creativity, I think an unscripted puppet show would be far more appropriate. I admit I don't know your intent, nor do I have much direct experience coaching puppet shows. But my kids have participated in puppetry with a wonderful woman who used the more improvised approach and it worked beautifully.
