Gallbladder troubles post partum?

Did anyone have some serious health issue after a twin pregnancy?  I have three month old twins and just found out my gallbladder is full of stones.  Now I am looking at having to have surgery to remove my gall bladder and I am nursing!

I feel like the pregnancy zapped my body.  Anybody else have this problem?

I didnt' have a multiple birth, but I did get gallstones as a result of pregnancy hormones and had to have my gallbladder removed not long after the birth of #1. My doctor said it's pretty common for pregnancy hormones to cause this problem, but it isn't limited to multiple births.

I had a very nasty attack soon after my twins were born. It cleared up on it's own, though.  Years later I had another flare up, but my tests indicated no obvious stones, and went with a multizyme supplement to ease digestive symptoms.

I didn't have a twin pregnancy but also ended up with gallstones and needing my gallbladder out when my son was about 4 months old. It was horrible. Every single nurse that came into the hospital room was amazed because it's typically a surgery older people need. (I'm in my early 20s) and the doctor also said pregnancy can cause it. Glad to be rid of my gallbladder though- the heartburn and indigestion was unbearable! Haven't had any problems since!

I had gall bladder surgery after my singleton (I don't have multiples so I'm totally forum crashing here -- saw this in new posts). In contrast to the previous poster, all of the nurses said "Oh yeah, postpartum gallbladder issues. They're really common."

My sister and I both have had gall bladder issues post partum, but I'm pretty sure that I had my first attack in my teens...WAY before I ever got pregnant!  I had it actually diagnosed after my singleton and chose not to have it removed because it's mostly asymptomatic.  I have maybe 3 attacks a year, almost always brought on by stress.  I went through 40 weeks of my twin pregnancy with only one incident and have only had a couple of attacks in their two years of life.  As long as it's only this minor inconvenience for me, I plan to keep all of my organs intact!
